| When I get a headache, which is rare, I usually take 2 Tylenol and it doesn’t return. But over the past week, I’ve had to take Tylenol or Advil every 12 hours. I’m not sick and have no other symptoms, and I’ve never in my life had a migraine or issue with headaches. Would you go to the doc for this? |
| Yes, go to your primary care physician or one of the walk in emergency room clinics. |
| Having the same issue. Blaming it on the unstable stormy air and the abundance of pollen. |
| I'd go in for that since headaches are unusual for you. |
| Yeah, I’ll call my doc. I am scheduled for (laparoscopic) surgery next week, so the timing of this makes me nervous; I doubt I’ll get in for an MRI before then. I definitely don’t want to reschedule my surgery! Ugh. |
|
Yes see your primary care physician and they can examine you / send you for further testing if necessary.
I hope it passes OP as it sounds brutal. |
|
Yes.
Worst headache or your life or new headache in someone not prone to them or marked change in an old headache all need to be seen. Go. |
|
Yes. It can be a symptom of another health issue and needs to be investigated.
Even if it is merely a headache, you shouldn’t be taking OTC meds for more than three days per week. This headache needs to be treated differently, as intractable headaches carry some risk of becoming chronic headache. |
|
YES YES YES YES YES!
Absolutely GO TO THE DOCTOR for unrelenting headache! Please call them ASAP and tell them you’ve had a weeklong headache. They probably will advise you go to urgent care or the ER. A sudden onset of severe unrelenting headache is possibly a very, very serious thing. Call. NOW! |
| Any new birth control, OP? I found that after a few months on a new birth control, I started getting daily headaches. Took me a few months to figure this out. |
It’s not severe - and it comes and goes. It’s a dull ache at its worst. But I will call, for sure. |
Are you thinking like meningitis, or brain bleed/tumor? Yikes. |
| In my case, I thought it was a sinus headache or sinus infection and my ENT diagnosed it as a tension headache and gave me prednisone or some steroid and that eased it off. It was bad. I did not think I could go on with the unrelenting headache! Thankfully has not returned in that magnitude. |
I had an intermittent headache like this and it was a sphenoid sinus infection. I did end up at the ER bc I was worried it was an aneurysm or stroke, and the MRI showed severe sinusitis. I did antibiotics and steroids, but eventually did get sinus surgery. Headaches can we many things but it's worth mentioning to the doctor esp if you've had a cold before the headaches started. |
| I had this and it was the melatonin I was taking causing it. the dose was too high. are you taking anything new? |
