I just read through a ton of old posts about how bad she is. Have things improved at all? |
Yes. A lot. |
How so? |
Why do you want to know? Are you thinking of teaching there? Sending your kids there? |
I'm also interested in hearing more about this, as a family zoned for Oakridge. |
Your kids will likely be fine. There are many amazing teachers. The kids are likely starting to calm down now that the pandemic effects are starting to clear up. The school gets kids from all over the world every year due to its location. The principal is fine….until she’s not, but that affects staff more than students (though it certainly can trickle down). |
Why are you gatekeeping here??? |
Maybe it matters to the answer? |
I was trying decide if it was worth my time to respond or if OP was just someone trying to stir the pot. |
Not trying to stir the pot. Possible future parent who is interested in subbing from time to time. |
Things have improved marginally but I still would absolutely not recommend the school. As far as subbing, you don't really interact with the principal as a sub and how bad behavior issues are really differs from class to class more than from school to school, so I don't think subbing there would necessarily be bad. |
Can you be more specific about why you would not recommend the school to prospective families? |
The principal. Just search for Oakridge on this forum. |
I live in the neighborhood but my kids don't go to Oakridge. As long as we've lived here we have known families who have raved about how great Oakridge is. The last year obviously not, but it isn't clear to me what changed. I also think the dissatisfaction is recent. |
Oakridge is the pits as long as the 2024 (current year) principal is still here. We have lived here for more than many readers have been in the area (life long Oakridge district family). l went there as a kid when it was one of the best in the nation. Oh my how it has fallen…not a soul on our street still has kids there nor would send one. It used to be that you mustered out of APS when your kid left Oakridge, Now you do everything to make sure you never go. You will never get the principal to implement any change or improvement or do a lick of anything that is not her idea. If you go it is her way or the highway. Period. |
