My son really likes to watch series. He was watching young Sheldon and it’s inappropriate for him and I checked the common age recommendation and it’s 14! So looking for other drama television shows.
Thank you! |

A Series of Unfortunate Events
Shark Tank British Baking Show or any sort of competition cooking/baking show (especially the kid versions) We actually like Young Sheldon. |
| Ds loved Arthur at that age. |

Family Ties
Silver Spoons Mr. Belvedere Punky Brewster Charles in Charge Mork and Mindy Family Matters Full House |

My 11yo watches young Sheldon. I didn’t look at the rating tbh. She’s not running out getting pregnant and that’s really the only thing I think is inappropriate. I’d let a 9yo watch it and I’m usually pretty conservative on screens.
Mine started watching Survivor and Amazing Race at 8 and we still watch those together. |

What about more mature animated series? My 9 yo loves these series on Netflix:
- The Dragon Prince - Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts - Hilda |
| You know, from the time I was like five, I just turned on the tv and watched whatever I wanted. So did my brother. We both have multiple degrees and families and are perfectly mentally healthy. It's okay if some jokes go over his head. This kid is 9. - surely he can find his own tv shows to watch without adult help. |

Arthur
Wild Kratts (yes, still) Is it Cake? Kids Baking Championship This Old House (really!) American Ninja Warrior |
| Lol. What makes young Sheldon not appropriate for a 9 year old? |

Without knowing why you think that shows is in appropriate its hard to give you ideas
Just add magic Abbott elementary Ghosts Once upon a time The real loud house Thundermans Henry danger Baking challenges |

My girls and I are watching Once Upon a Time now (they are 10 and 12). I would say Young Sheldon is probably more age appropriate! OUAT is kind of soapy.
For shows I think would also appeal to boys that my kids enjoyed at 9+: - Gortimer Gibbons Life on Normal Street (this one is v wholesome) - Legends of Korma - Avatar: Last Airbender - Pawn Stars - All the Lego Star Wars (they had watched the movies and appreciated the parody as they got older) - Fresh off the Boat Not sure how these are all ranked on Common Sense media - but I didn't have a problem with the shows when I would watch with them. |
| We’re finishing up young Sheldon with my nearly 9yo DS. The last season is a little more mature, but in general, it’s a lot more tame than the shows and movies I watched as a younger child in the late 80s and early 90s. He’s enjoying baking shows as well as Pokémon, some other anime, and some boss baby. Also saw the first season of Fresh Prince |

My 8yo likes baking/cooking challenge shows like Baking Championship (both kids and adult), Beat Bobby Flay, Top Chef, etc.
He also enjoys: American Ninja Warrior How It’s Made Game shows - Wheel of Fortune and Beat Shazam come to mind Pokemon We don’t watch a ton of shows, so I’m getting some good ideas here to try next! |
