MLS Next Flex Tournament at Soccerplex

Anonymous
Took my 2008 DS and a couple of his teammates to watch a couple U15's and U16's games at the MLS Next Flex tournament going on now at the Soccerplex in Germantown

They are good players on a decent ECNL team

They all honestly and humbly agreed, none of them could hang in the games we saw based on the speed of play, technical skills and physicality

It was eye opening for me to see the differences between kids of the same age

Why does PP's observation bother you based on their personal insight?

Let's remove all the posts on DCUM that states the obvious, ask elementary questions and says what everyone already knows.
Also remove all giving personal experiences

Not every MLS next team was there. The teams that didn't make it are not far off from top ECNL teams. Also, some ECNL boys teams can compete with the best MLS next teams.

Are you saying the OP didn't relay their personal experience accurately?
You're going to correct them with your opinion

The poster is an ECNL parent just relating their observation off what they witnessed. Didn't say a negative word about ECNL
What are you wasting your time defending?

they were comparing themselves to the best teams as opposed to the majority of MLS next teams in the area.

OP, how did the kids react? Were they impressed, motivated, discouraged, etc? And are you glad that you took them?

They shouldn't have compared themselves to the players and teams they were watching?

I'll leave OP to answer the rest

A very good question.
Most of my assessment will be about my translation

They were impressed and motivated. There might have been a tinge of discouragement to see kids your own age in real life operating at such a higher level
But some kids see a challenge in that

I'm glad I took me for sure, because as a parent, reality check is a good thing.
