| Anyone find ECNL's moving the tryout dates from May 1 to March 1. This happened a few years ago, but every spring we feel it. Teams LIMP to the end of the season. Kids/parents forced to travel with teams that don't want them next year. Teams seem to blow up. Would moving the date back to May 1 make a difference? |
| I agree, keep all tryouts to May for this exact reason! contact VYSA to make a change or ECNL! |
Vysa has nothing to do with ECNL. |
|
Why was is changed? For whose benefit?
|
| It doesn't matter. If tryouts are May 1st, the kids leaving will be checked out by March 1st anyway. |
Yes i would agree. Moving back to May 1 would make a difference. |
For ECNL's benefit, mainly NL teams. |
Not all benefited. MD teams lost. So it's just for NOVA teams. |
How does it benefit ECNL? In other states like MD the tryout dates are May 1st. |
| All tryouts should be at the END of May. Period. It's embarrassing for any kid to come to practices and games when other players know they didn't get an offer to return. |
They have completed rosters early. If they choose to they can start bringing the new kids into practice with a few months left in the current season |
ECNL falls under US Club Soccer, they could care less what VYSA says. |
In that case why not have rolling tryouts all season long? And why is this only in Virginia and not other states? |
| My kid is in HS now and tryout weeks conflicting with APs is insanely dumb. |
NP. So schedule them sometime after March 1 that doesn't conflict with the 2-3 weeks of AP exams. It really is terrible for the kids to go through tryouts so early and then have to play the rest of the spring season. And it trickles down to the ECNL-RL teams as well. All spring is focused on tryouts that it isn't fun for the players or the families. |
