Why are people acting like supporting Palestine is supporting Hamas?

Anonymous
I don't support a terrorist organization. I do however support the people of Palestine. That's not antisemitic to say that the innocent civilians do not deserve this brutality. In the past, when the cartel has kidnapped Americans, we did not act like it was Mexico's gov't who committed the kidnapping. It was understood that the cartel was to blame and is separate of the Mexican government. Why is that not understood by those who keep saying that the hostages being taken gives Israel carte blanche to do whatever. Wasn't an Israeli gov person talking about cutting off the water supply in Gaza? How is that *not* a war crime. Hamas needs to be dealt with but it really seems like Israel is taking the opportunity to say "see this is why we have to take over Palestine!". Meanwhile, many Americans are agreeing with Israel only because of their implicit Islamaphobia.

Where’s the evidence the Palestinien people hate Hamas and wants them held accountable?

I think because at one point, the people voted for Hamas to be part of the government, so they blame the Palestinians.

But I agree with you, OP. I support Palestine's right to exist just as much as Israel's.

Sure, but these days who knows which elections aren’t corrupted?

I agree with you, OP. I support the Israeli people but not their government's current actions. I support Palestinians but not Hamas. I think a lot of people feel this way. Both the Israelis and Palestinians are not being well served by their leaders. I don't want any more innocent people to be hurt on both sides of this issue. Why is that such a radical thing to say?

Because equating all Palestinians with Hamas delegitimizes them and changes the subject from political to security. It also excuses the widespread death and destruction, the West Bank pogroms, etc while shutting down criticism.

Shoot first, ask questions later?

This is the same argument Hamas can use against the Israelis since their government is doing the killing. With this line of reasoning there is no such thing as a civilian and you can just annihilate everyone.

You're in the batch that karma will come for, propagating lies that you either know are lies or that you should know are lies. Either way, despicable.

It dehumanizes Palestinians and their supporters. It is a propaganda tool the Germans used before and during WW2 on Jews, gypsies, Russians, etc. Notice it leads to the same results.
