Any swim team reps in the house?

How’s your not even start of the season going? Ours is already off to a rocky drama filled start.

There’s been almost no communication from our rep. Rather frustrating. Last year was much more organized.

Since you have swim team experience, what communication do you need exactly? It is rinse and repeat year after year. If you need more hand holding then by all means become a rep yourself.

Better than yours by the sound of it! What’s been the issue?

Internal squabbling amongst our board resulting in constantly shifting guidelines and micro-management 🙄

I’m also curious…. What kind of communication are you looking for?

Our rep sucks. It’s a dictatorship and poorly run.

Don’t you have some sort of representation on the board? Have you expressed your concerns to them? Theres a fine line between micromanaging and doing their job. Arguably the one volunteer position more stressful than team rep is board member.

I’m not a rep, but I’m so grateful for ours. No clue if there is drama behind the scenes, but they make it look easy. And they are working moms.

NP - we've received two (I think) emails from our reps already. The first provided information about registration, the practice and meet calendar, coaching staff changes for the year, etc. The second was a reminder about an upcoming deadline and also provided information about the newly hired assistant and junior coaches. I appreciated that information, even as an experienced swim team parent.

It's not "hand-holding" to communicate to people.

Ok, that is 2 emails. The PP was complaining about “almost no” communication, so they at least got a email, probably like the first one you described. Many teams also have the registration info, calendars, coaches, etc., on a website. These are VOLUNTEER team reps, I’m so over the constant sh!tting on them for not doing enough.

I feel a bit behind on things to be honest. But we are in good shape with coaching staff and a decent infrastructure.

It is a lot.

What a "swim team rep"?

Coaching is set, meet schedule is set, so that’s good.

I would love it if more parents would certify as officials!
