SYC or Arlington?

Any thoughts on which club develops the younger players better, SYC and Arlington? Particularly on the boys side.

Do you care about winning trophies or being around good people while playing soccer? Those are your choices.

My kid has played with Arlington at the younger ages in the Super Y league; it's been a good experience.

Every interaction I've had with SYC coaching staff and parents at the younger ages has been dismal -- screaming coaches, dirty play (e.g., intentional fouls at young ages), foul language, aggressive parents, etc.

SYC has had some success in the younger age groups, but as some have noted some of the SYC coaches have just moved to Arlington. Hopefully, they don't bring the trash game to Arlington.

These are quite the distance apart.

At younger ages, whichever is closest to home.

Are the coaches associated with the “some success in the younger age groups” the same as the coaches who moved over to Arlington, and per chance do you know if they are bringing any of the aggressive parents with them?

I don't know, sorry. I don't pay attention too much to the particulars of the individual coaches enough to know their names or where they've moved to; some folks on the boards here can probably chime in. I do have the vague notion that at least some of the SYC screamers are headed to Arlington. But I'm sure plenty will remain at SYC.

I'm hoping that, as a longstanding club with a decent organization, Arlington doesn't let any coach, including new arrivals from SYC, run amok with behavior like what I've seen from SYC.

One of the SYC>Arlington coaches is a screamer, yes. Not sure whether he's bringing families with him, but in my experience, SYC parents (on the boys' side, at least) can be more intense than I personally am comfortable with.

You would be surprised what some will allow in order to achieve results. You've got the two loudest screamers from syc.

SYC girls side is just as obnoxious FYI! Were with top team on a big club and every time we played SYC, I wanted to punch the SYC coach out to shut him up LOL. I hate SYC the most out of all the teams we play. It's consistently been their coaches who are the worst at berating their players during games. That's sad those 2 coaches moving to Arl. I would never allow my kid to have a coach like theirs. We are now with Arl so hoping that won't be us getting them in the future!!
