I like to make DD (2 yrs) a cheese sandwich, but what do I put on it other than cheese and bread? Ketchup? Butter? No meat suggestions please.
Thanks |
Mayo is our house favorite, though when I was a kid my dad always made them with butter. Now I have one butter kid and one mayo kid.
I love butter with cheese sandwiches. Butter and jam would be great too. If your dd was older then you could add some mustard or horseradish instead of butter but it might be too spicy for her at this age.
Mustard! If DD is into more adult flavors, I would do a whole grain (nothing too spicy, of course), but good ol' French's will do.
Mustard mayo. DS has been eating this since he was about 1. Guldens is his favorite. Or a few pickles? Sweet relish? Garlic mayo?
Chutney.
Chutney! Whole Foods sells great local chutneys from Virginia. There's a sweet peach, if your child doesn't like things too spicy, and a spicy plum and spicy peach. Delicious! A nice whole-grain or maple mustard can be great too, but chutney's the favorite in our house.
another vote for mustard or mayo.
mustard all the way. not as bad for you, either (I think!)
Yes, but is it kosher? |
dijon mustard or mayo with dill and horseradish
I love a grilled swiss cheese sandwich with tomatoes and mayo. Yum! Great with cheddar also.
Avocado!
Chutney and cheese??? Who do you think you are, Elvis? Why not just throw a banana, some peanut butter and eggplant in there and call it a day?
When I studied abroad, I remember eating cheese sandwiches with butter and swiss, also, cheese with butter and cornichons.
