The people who valued their "lawn" over a few kids....it's focusing on what's important. I just cannot imagine a lawn that would take priority over this.

But I guess I now believe family I visisted in DC a few months ago talking about not taking 1 step onto the neighbor's patch of grass or I'd be screamed out. Now I believe them. I truly didn't then.

I'm a PP. I absolutely value my lawn more than anyone's kids. They are not important to me.

I hope every dog in town pees on your lawn. You deserve it.

I love when people bring their dogs into my yard! I don't mind the pee at all. I live on a cul de sac and all the dogs come by. It's kids I don't want there.

Yeah right, old curmudgeon. I'm sure you just love all the dead brown spots in your valuable lawn.

I didn't say it was valuable. I said I value it more than children. And the children stay out!

I don’t understand people who let their kids trespass on the property of others. I teach my kids to stay on the public sidewalks and not to walk through other people’s yards. I want them to respect the property of others.

All you need to do is have one helpful neighbor spread the rumor that you're a registered sex offender. In fact, I would walk up to these kids and ask - what do you know about sex offenders? They won't understand a word of course, but parents would know.

Make yourself a scary, undesirable person.

This is the best response on here. OP, please do this and let us know how it goes. That would be HILARIOUS.

I'm sure everyone gives you a wide berth in your neighborhood. You sound..... odd.

I'm fine with you thinking that. Keep your kids on the sidewalk.

It’s so funny on these boards that 50%of the people sit there typing advice they would probably never take themselves. So OP- that would annoy many people- maybe more than would be ok with it. No one wants random kids walking through their yard every day. Having said that- is it where they can see in your windows and see you in your bathrobe- or make your dog bark? Is it corner or back of your lot and they can’t see you - or no privacy issue? How many kids snd are they quiet?
If they aren’t disturbing you- not being noisy or destructive - I would probably let them go. But If anything else, I will probably ask them to walk around. Just say it makes your pets go crazy every morning ( something harmless).
Our bus picks up at a corner house with mailbox- so kids stand in his yard a bit- he started having his sprinkler go off at bus time. That’s crap- because now kiss have to either get sprayed or stand in street. It’s dark when. Bus comes- but apparently it annoys him that kids stand in corner of his yard.

Anonymous wrote:OP here. I'm worried because our yard gets very swampy/muddy sometimes in the winter and it's on an incline which can be slippery when it freezes. From a family member's experience it's all well and good to say "nobody will sue you" but their insurance company might not agree when it comes time to pay medical bills. I think injury is unlikely but it worries me ESPECIALLY with kids I've never seen before and whose parents I don't even know (the "guests" of the kids who live there).

The neighbor we know less well has had issue with other people crossing through THEIR yard in the past and was annoyed with our kids for being in their yard before so it rubs me the wrong way that they think they can just let their kids walk through our lawn without even asking.

And maybe that's the crux...I'm annoyed that they haven't even asked and the kids just keep trudging through our yard....

Xanax for you. Problem solved.

Don't be a grinch. Don't be a Karen. Let the dog poop in your yard, it's not going to cause any harm!!!

I have a 10lb dog who doesn't take long walks and I 100% let her poop in people's yards. I pick it up immediately. You know that foxes and deer and squirrels $hit all over everything and they don't pick it up, right?

Unless you live in the stix and are willing to shoot someone over it, there is little you can actually do about any of this.

You couldn't make it more obvious you're a seething broke condo/apartment dweller, jealous of more affluent people with a big house and a yard.

This is the best answer yet and cheaper than a fence. Although will be tough on a winter morning sub-freezing temps.

Plant some shrubs.

+1. It isn't their yard, they need to stay out of it.

+2. Those kids’ parents have a total lack of class.

“Poor kids” that they have to walk 10 minutes instead of three. GTFOH.
