Landon for the tough only?

IAC, give me a break. Let's try playing sports in the WMAC.

The real question is does anyone other than lax players get recruited for college sports out of Landon? If so -- how many and which graduating class?

Yes, show the stats on that, please.

Last year a basketball player went to Harvard and one or two football players went to Ivies. The 2009 matriculation list is on Landon's website and you can google each kid's name and the college and if he iis an athlete you'll get a hit on the roster. I was actually more impressed that the majority ofnthe Ivy-bound kids were NOT athletes-- it said good things about growing academic strength and undercut assumptions that I had previously held. I'm not affiliated with Landon-- just had a lot of time on my hands lately.

PP here: I was only looking at Ivies--clearly a number of other kids from 2009 were recruited for sports at non-Ivies.

I get that. I was just wondering how many Ivy admits were non-athletes. It appears there were many more than I expected there to be.

You mean non-recruits? A boy can be a good athlete and not be an athletic recruit.

I liket he fact that their wait list boys may have a chance. My son is very good in academics and was excited about their sports program. Now, we are hoping to get a call. If he now gets in, I will keep a tough attitude against other adults that don't understand why I would switch from the school we have put a contract on to have an opportunity to go to an all boys school that is secular, great sports, a record of great academics and the bad reputation that has been haunting them for the past few years.

Are you sure you should switch from the other school to a school you admit has a bad reputation? What is the other school? I am trying to understand why you would send your child to a school whose reputation you anticipate having to defend.

Op Here. I admit it would mainly be because of the same sex environment. Our family prefers an all boys school, ( but not catholic) but we have put a contract on a coed school and felt comforatable in doing so. Our Ds is in middle school , so some of our options and our location does not suit us until at least 9 grade. If we get that call, I at least want to consider it, regardless of the newfound reputation that Landon now has. I also see it as a slight advantage for a school with a long history that I believe may finally do all that they can to overcome the reputation and become a better school in spite of it all

hello -- I'm well aware of that -- my own DC was recruited. Thank God.

What is the status of their waitlist?

Landon has mediocre academics -- sorry boosters.
