The new head with quite impressive. He was 'spot on' with his view of knowing my children. We are applying for 1st.
There was nothing strange to report- so I am not sure what you are talking about. This was the only school that we went to that was refreshing in that my children and we could be ourselves. What a wonderful environment to learn in. |
Well, the AD should say that they do test. |

Wow-- 'stop bashing on hear say' PLEASE! I am a current parent that has been at this school for 9 years. My child could of been at one of those other schools and matter of fact is
looking for High School placement at a variety of high end schools. Quite simply- Green Acres teaches to the whole child- academics are strong at the school, along with photography, ceramics, and music to name a few of the wonderful arts. The children learn leadership and gain even more self esteem in this wonderful and caring environment. I can not say enough great things about the opportunities that Green Acres has given to my children over the years. Imagine wanting to go to school and loving to learn- what more can you ask from as a parent! |

There are standardized testing at Green Acres- they are called the ERB's Not too sure what you are talking about- not having testing. Please make sure that you do your homework before reporting this.
The Green Acres School new head was put in place because our last one retired. There are more than a few that go on to Ivy League schools. Also- going to college is a great reward. There are many great schools out these and Green Acres discloses the schools and the numbers that have gone there. Please do your homework before you report. Thanks! |
| I don't think the last one "retired." It wasn't a good fit. And #s for exmissions to top schools aren't very impressive compared with other K-8s. |

The problem seems to be that the AD somehow gave some families the impression that there is little testing and no academic rigor. Then combine that with some families having bad experiences wrt academics, a few kids having trouble getting good 9th grade spots, and an administrative change (principal). That makes people wonder about what is going on.
I hope that things can appear to be more together there in the future with the new head of school. The school has some nice positives. |
The last head focused on a tremendous capital campaign - the new buildings and improved services/facilities. The new head is more focused on the mission of the school, as was the plan after the school was finished with the building and expansion. I'm not sure what your actual relationship with the school is, but it seems to be more focused on the rumor mill than 1st hand experience. The parents are pleased, minor but typical attrition for a school that stops at 8th grade. The students go on to excellent high schools and colleges, and are well adjusted and excellent team players. |
"When was the last time you were at GA? I suggest a visit so you can update your information and impressions. |
| I was positively inclined when we visited -- we went another direction, but were tempted, at least somewhat. What I've heard re the MS since that time - from people experiencing it - makes me breath a huge sigh of relief we did not go. I can't deny some are supportive of the place, of course. |
But do you know why he left? Just curious. |
| Fired by the board. |
| ..... which isn't a bad thing necessarily, I hasten to add. If someone is not working out, they should go. And this takes nothing away from what positive contributions he made toward a capital campaign. |
| Why was he fired by the board? |
|
"Fired by the board."
That is simply not true. Why would you say or even repeat such a thing when you obviously do not know? |
| What happened? What *is* the story? |
