Loudoun Soccer Showcase

Loudoun 06 team only dressed 13 players. One just got back from injury who didn’t play against VDA. 5 major contributors/starters have been out with major injuries. Surprisingly enough, they did well.

These team have young players playing up as many other teams do. If you believe there is no top competition for your team it is probably time to find more challenge for some of your top players and have them playing up.

You're missing the point. The top flight could have been really strong with VDA, FCV, Loudoun and Maryland United...but Loudoun probably wouldn't have fared as well, so instead they bumped FCV and Maryland United down and bumped up two teams that their team could get better results against...All about saving a little face. #RepTheRed!

Right, time to creat your own showcase or arrange scrimmage with these top teams.

“Scrimmages” LOL.

This area is so obsessed with scrimmages. Let’s just create a thread dedicated to talking about practice.

As opposed to what area?

You FCV parents can ask your coach why they dodge VDA 2006 girls. Straight up DODGING... won't even scrimmage.

You know why LOL. Only reason why they allowed that FCV 2004 team to play the VDA 2004 team last weekend was they thought it would be an easy game. Well, that backfired. VDA was way more organized, technical and had way more opportunities to score. Honestly, watch the film. VDA 2004 owned that FCV 2004 team, can you imagine what the VDA 2006 team would do?

Clubs like FCV rely on reputation for recruiting because they don’t have a player pool. If they lose the tag of being a “destination club” , they will suffer.

IMO, this is why they haven’t played VDA 06. It would cause player movement.

The 04s and 03s (and most part 05s) are settled in for the remainder. The 04/03 are combining next year to finish out.
Win-lose-draw doesn’t matter. Recruitment does. Player movement isn’t happening outside maybe a player.

The 06 and below is a whole different ball game. Expect to see lots of movement in the future.

Are the 06 FCV girls discussing a move? VDA or elsewhere?

Are the 07 or 08 FCV girls looking to move? Maybe one here or there but that's normal for every team. No indication of mass exodus.

I think "owned" is a little optimistic, LOL. FCV had three goals which got called back. When was the last time you saw that? VDA has some very good players, FCV has some very good players. I'd say it was a hard fought game, and the top teams should be playing each other more often in the area. It was a fun one to watch.

All due respect, it doesn’t count if you continually slam a goalie with the purpose of knocking the ball out her possession. One of which should have been a straight red. With that aside, it was good game with good players.

5 players out with major injuries? These are 14 and 15 year olds...Something's not right with training or playing style.

That many goals happened in the 06 VDA vs Loudoun game actually. Grotesque line judging.... called an offside on a freaking corner.

I watched live and surprisingly enough the only thing FCV did well was aggressive play / slamming into the goalies forcing drop balls or knocking the goalie back into the goal while she was fully extended. Them saying they scored three extra goals is a joke. They do have some very good players, however, they are overshadowed by the others who lack technical abilities and rely on physicality as a substitution.

Other than the aggressive set piece play (although at least one that I saw should have been a goal) I didn't think the game was too physical. It was played with intensity but I might have given the edge in midfield physicality to VDA.

Great game to watch. It showed that performance gaps close as they age. Nice to know that kids who are uncommitted that are matched up with those who are committed to very good schools can hold their own. Hopefully these teams will get to play each other again.

Wishful thinking.
