Maret
And I’m not a parent at either. Just know people at both. |
Most Catholics are white? Don't you know that almost all Latin America, the Philippines and other countries in Africa are Catholics? I wish this country could put race aside and focus on what it matters: we are all humans. |
100% agree! My DS attended a PK-8 before GDS and she had few friends, in GDS they have expanded their circle and are happy. Love GDS! |
Much of Latin American’s consider themselves white. |
| Maret. We did not apply to GDS as were not impressed by their admission process. |
| Either is great. |
| Both are terrific. I think kids at Maret are happier, at least at the high school level , because the general academic environment is less stressful. |
This happens at GDS too. I think that GDS had four students accepted ED to Harvard This year. I think three of the four were legacies. I am also sure they were excellent candidates. GDS, Maret, Sidwell, and other area independents have children of prominent parents. So do the public schools in the close in (wealthy) suburbs. Also, some children of prominent parents actually work hard and have excellent grades, test scores, and ECs. Do they get a boost in college admissions? Yes. But that happens at all the schools. —nonprominent parent |
I’m glad we agree that the quality of private ed doesn’t help college admissions, but the ability to afford private Ed does. |
Yeah, hanging out on the couch and playing on your phone instead of having class is definitely less stressful! |
| As a southerner and Christian I wouldn’t feel comfortable at either. |
Yes 5-6 hours of homework a night plus 8 hour of school means burn out. The homework load does not allow kids to do any. Want to do an extracurricular can’t too much homework. |
| Oh no, the unhinged, anti-GDS poster from yesterday (the one who couldn't stop attacking the GDS student body president -- a kid) is back. |
+1 - PP nailed it. |
