Im assuming the majority of responses are from white women. Weight is a defining standard of beauty the way complexion? Hair texture? Is for people of color.

I know where our issues stem from. Where does your weight obsession originate?

I have been married 20 years and have no idea how much I weighed on my wedding day. Maybe 140? I'm 170 now.

Maintaining a weight from your youth is an accomplishment, I think. At some point, most people give up on themselves and may be beaten down by life. It's easier to eat the chips and chug the wine than it is to exercise and go to bed early. My $0.02.

or you have little value if you gain weight and men will toss you aside or never look at you. if you had other value this would be less important.

It's not that deep, or should I say "shallow"? It's not about turning heads, it's about staying vital, fit and healthy. Looking great is a bonus.

This.

I am sorry but most older white women do not look "great" when they are a size 0-2. They wrinkle a lot faster. A white woman will keep a more youthful, fit and fresh face around a size 4-10. Generally speaking ofcourse - there are always exceptions.

I'm the $.02 poster. 5'7, 135, size 6/8, late 40's. My face and body both look good. Thankyouverymuch. I'm not competing with 20 year olds or anyone else. I am aging naturally and that's the way I want it. I want to stay fit and vital.

You are 6/8, so we are not in total disagreement

I'm 5 ft. I was about 113 when married, 108 during the divorce. Yes, I noticed the wrinkles more. At my highest weight now just under 130. Thanks perimenopause (and wine).

I'm 5'4'' 122. At my lowest weight, I was 5'3'' 105, which is an 18.6 BMI. That required me to essentially be anorexic.

I've since developed a healthier relationship with food.

What is the circumference of your wrist?

My wrist? I have no idea. Do people know these things? I wear a size 2 in pretty much every store.

I am 5’4 and 108. At 122, I’d have a lot of flab on my stomach. I love my underweight BMI

Then we're just different. I have a totally flat stomach. But to say "I love my underweight BMI" is a little bit of a weird statement ...

5'3" and was about 196 when we met. Then I crash dieted and weighed 160 when we got married. Now I'm about 200 lbs, and my husband still loves my fat ass 20 years later.

99 lbs. 25 years later 135 lbs.

5'3" then. I have shrunk due to bad posture to 5'2"

117 at 5'2"

Must you ask this question during a pandemic? Really?

I am five two. 118 when I got married and now 130. It was two kids ago but honestly, it wasn't the kids who made me gain weight but a horrible job. I actually lost 15 lbs when I quit (I was 145 this time lat year!). I suspect I will end up between 120 and 125 when all is said and done. My stomach is flat again thank God.

Some people here have reported losing weight during the pandemic due to eating healthier, less carry out, exercising more and anxiety. I'm one one the anxiety weight loss crew. I'd much rather be a part of the covid-19lb crew, honestly. There's not much else to discuss that's as interesting as weight comparisons over the years.

Get back to us in 10 years.

I come from a long line of thin women. Genetics are real. I don't worry about weight, but I do work out (especially weight training) to maintain a healthy bone density, since the women in my family had issues with that in their old age.

You're at a much healthier weight now. You were clinically underweight then.

Yes, PP, I’m a recovering anorexic and was 118/5’8” when I got married at 24 and now, at 44 and three pregnancies, 135. I still look thin, bordering on skinny, but I’m much healthier and stronger. Permanent cardiac damage, however.

I was 111 when I got married 17 years ago but that was an unusual for me. All the stress from the wedding made me lose weight. I have been around 115 my entire adult life but now in my late 40s, my weight is redistributing to my belly and my boobs have become flatter after 3 kids. I'm essentially a rectangle now. Also, since I'm pretty fit and muscular in my body, there's not much fat in my face either, making me look mannish as I get older.
