Cawthorn got a lot of help from Mark Meadows and other powerful insiders to help get him installed.

Trump actually endorsed Cawthorn’s opponent in the primary, a somewhat qualified yet of course crazy woman, and he won anyway. I’m not sure whose side Meadows was on but I can’t imagine he wouldn’t have been cowtowing to Trump at that point.

I live in NC, believe me this guy was elected. The GOP has been very successful with their campaign to make education look like a weakness. If you bring up the fact that Madison failed out of college or that Madison by his own admission has a hard time with reading comprehension then you're branded a "liberal elite". Something is seriously wrong with this country, we used to want smart people in power now we want them to be dumber than us.
