![]() Justice Roberts puts a hold on the tax release until Nov 21. I hope SC does not take this case, eventually. Otherwise we are messed up as a country! |
We are already messed up as a country. |
Agreed, but I think it’s fair for PP to say that if we lose all concept of legal precedent and the separation of powers all at once, we will be worse. |

QUESTIONS PRESENTED The District Attorney for the County of New York is conducting a criminal investigation that, by his own admission, targets the President of the United States for possible indictment and prosecution during his term in office. As part of that investigation, he served a grand-jury subpoena on a custodian of the President’s personal records, demanding production of nearly ten years’ worth of the President’s financial papers and his tax returns. That subpoena is the combination—almost a word-for-word copy—of two subpoenas issued by committees of Congress for these same papers. The Second Circuit rejected the President’s claim of immunity and ordered compliance with the subpoena. The question presented is: Whether this subpoena violates Article II and the Supremacy Clause of the United States Constitution.” From the doc link above |
A federal judge has granted the motion to dismiss in what he called a "highly unusual case" filed by the president to block the House Ways and Means committee from getting his New York state tax returns.

Story is from earlier and reads like the judge will grant. Now he has. |
Back to square one - in which Trump argues against Vance’s subpoena without trying to use the imaginary presidential immunity that SCOTUS disallowed:
“In an amended lawsuit filed Monday, Trump's lawyers said that the subpoena for Trump's tax returns and other records from the accounting firm Mazars USA "amounts to harassment of the President in violation of his legal rights." Specifically, the lawyers are challenging the subpoena for being "wildly overboard," and "not remotely confined to the grand jury investigation that began in 2018" at the direction of Vance.” https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2020/07/27/trump-files-effort-to-block-manhattan-da-vance-subpoena-for-income-tax-returns.html?__twitter_impression=true |
Yeah, I think it’s a done deal that the prosecutors will get their hands on it. What concerns me that if he’s really hiding something in his tax returns, why hasn’t the IRS picked up on any of it before? Plus we won’t know what’s hidden in there until someone indicts him. A leak would be a serious criminal offense... |
Is it a crime, if reporting supports the very government you swore an oath to? Aren’t there whistleblower protections? |
Who’s to say they haven’t? Who’s to say that there weren’t multiple investigations into his finances, his kids’ finances... If Comey showed us anything in that horrific, election altering decision he should never be allowed to live down, it is that there are active investigations into Donald’s shtty criming but they don’t say anything about it. And now Trump has his lackeys to kill all of them, so let’s hope it’s just buried on some diligent patriot’s hard drive from which it can be revived in the event of a Biden win. |
Having most of your debt owned by the Russians or Chinese is not a crime. But, it sure does make him look bad with the whole Russian connection. |
ooops
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/08/03/nyregion/donald-trump-taxes-cyrus-vance.html?smid=tw-share Great example of Trump strategy back-firing - by forcing Manhattan DA's office to further detail/justify reasons for their subpoena they also forced disclosure of fact that Trump & his company under a live criminal investigation. |
In the case of Russia, which is a sanctioned country, if the money is from mobsters, then, yes, yes it is a crime. |
For potentially a lot more than the Stormy Daniels payments. |
I'll believe it when I see it. The US never punishes billionaires let alone political elites. Jared and Ivanka are pulling in $50M+ a year in the White House. Let me know when those dimwit scammers are collared. ![]() |
