Exactly! My 7th grader points them out, but then she got all the "stuff" that makes a VSCO girl.

Yep. My 6th grader is the same. 8th grade son says VSCO is another descriptive for "basic white girl."

Wth is a basic white girl? Or a basic black girl?

This is way, wayyyy better than the tight, ultra low rise jeans and belly and cleavage baring tops of my late 90s/early 2000s youth. My parents would have been thrilled if I wanted to wear Norts/big tees/Birkenstocks when I was in high school!

This.

Compared to alternatives, this is glorious

Yes! I'm so glad that high waisted shorts and big t's are in instead of some horrendous trends of the past. Oh, and the scruncie! Ha! LOVE IT!

It's...reaaallllyyyy not that great or anything to come rushing in to +1 about. Mom jeans and teeny little crop tops, huge shirts that completely cover whatever ugly shorts.... yes hooray!!

I can't get on board with the mom jeans (is that part of this trend?). Not that my style opinion matters to any young person, of course.

My DD is a VSCO girl, though she doesn't only wear/use the predictable items. I'm happy about this- people in general, including kids, tend toward a certain look. And for a young girl, wearing a baggy shirt and carrying a water bottle is great. She is sporty and it's great that she's hydrating throughout the day. The clothes are practical and modest (apart from the weird "disappearing shorts" look).

What would you prefer? Teeny crop tops paired with super low rise jeans? The current trend is far better than the alternative.

Remember our jeans with the zipper that was tops an inch long?? I’ll buy mom jeans all day so she never knows what a “whale tail” is

Yes. Low-rise is not something I want to come back now that I am a mom. :p

Is the white nike socks pulled up like a grandpa part of this trend, too?

Fascinating background on Sksksksk, and I oop, Stan, spill the tea, throwing shade

Maybe someone should hook those VSCO girls up with SJW culture and they can stop appropriating slang

What does "and I oop" mean? My 6th grade DD says it all the time.

I had never heard of this VSCO thing til I saw this thread the other day and sure enough, while doing a routine check of my 6th grader’s iPod this morning, I found references to VSCO in her texts, lots of “sksksksksk”s, and “cool water bottle stickers” in her search history. Thanks, DCUM, for keeping me in he know! Was not quite clear if her friends were mocking it or aspiring to it—and I have a feeling they don’t even know themselves.

Thx DCUM, this has been informative! Definitely seeing some of this in texts from friends on DD's phone.

Agree with PPs that I'd rather see high rise jeans and baggy T-shirts than crop tops and low riders!

I discovered that most girls who are making fun of such girls in fact have their own Vsco accts and use them rabidly.
