Special counsel Mueller has no sealed indictments as Russia probe ends: NBC News

Special counsel Robert Mueller has concluded his investigation and will not file any more indictments in connection with his inquiry into Russian interference in the 2016 campaign, NBC News reported on Friday, citing a senior U.S. law enforcement official.
There are no sealed indictments.
It is possible that leads uncovered during the special counsel's inquiry and handed off could lead to charges brought by state prosecutors or other parts of the Department of Justice.

Wasn't the speculation always that the really big stuff would be passed off to state prosecutors to prevent Trump from pardoning everyone?

Democrats shot themselves in the foot. Mueller had 2 years and tons of money and found nada.

Good luck taking Trump down now. If you go for the king you better not miss. They missed.

Have you not noticed what's going on in SDNY?

No sealed indictments. And good luck stringing Americans along on another wild goose chase.

DOJ is saying there are no sealed indictments related to The Mueller investigation.

SDNY isn't part of the Mueller investigation. Like I said, you have zero understanding of what's happening.

PP, do you have any good reason to think SDNY is going to do something big?

SDNY is doing what SDNY does best, investigating and prosecuting organized crime, financial fraud, etc. They are the ones who have been doing the fraud investigation regarding the inaugural committee, they're investigating Trump's tax records, it's where the Michael Cohen/hush money investigation is happening (remember Individual-1?), they're the ones who subpoenaed Aon regarding potential insurance fraud and illegal kickbacks by the Trump Organization, they've already filed suit against the Trump Organization for its charitable fraud, and they're investigating lending fraud in connection with his business projects (Cohen supposedly gave them a lot on this). That's just what I can remember off the top of my head.

Mueller was limited to just Russia. SDNY can pursue every other illegal thing the Trumps and the Trump Organization have done.

What they do best? Yeah, their prosecutions for the 2008 financial crisis were really something! Oh, wait...

That's what you're falling back on? Oh, that's sad.

Some of the crimes most damaging to the citizenry were almost entirely ignored by the criminal justice system and my highlighting said FACT is what you call "falling back"? What a hoot! Nothing I've said is pro-Trump. But I yield to no one in saying that hoping for good things from the SDNY or any other ensconced part of the legal profession is f-ing stupid!

+1

The 2008 financial crisis ruined millions of lives, trillions lost, countries sent to recessions. SDNY didn't prosecute anyone responsible for that disaster.

SDNY didn't even investigate Michael Cohen's taxi medallion business until Mueller made a referral. It's a purely political hit job.

Um, yes they did prosecute people in connection with the financial crisis.

Look up 'confirmation bias'.

That's an awful lot to casually shrug off. Just as it's a mind boggling stretch to say "nothingburger" about the 34 indictments. Nor is it a "political hit job" when numerous actual felonies have been established. Russia isn't actually the one and only thing that matters here. There's a clear pattern of gross corruption all around Trump.

You mean Kareem Serageldin? One guy with a Muslim name? DOJ and SDNY looked the other way at the crimes of politically connected bankers. Crimes that were pretty likely much more serious than this nebulous 'Russian collusion'.

Far from it.

Trumpsters are working awfully hard to convince themselves there's nothing there. If you're that confident, no need to waste time arguing, just wait for the report to be released and vindicate you.

Also, Mueller handed off a lot of criminal activity to NY AG and to Southern District, maybe others? Fasten your seatbelts....

Reading the posts here, it is abundantly clear that for most of you - this was never really about collusion. Or obstruction.

It was about one thing - taking down Trump. In any way possible. Many of you are still hopeful this will happen. It's sad really.

And, this whole thing makes me angry. Many innocent people have had their lives upended, their financial situations destroyed and their reputations ruined all because there were some people, in high places, who were unhappy at the outcome of the election.
I hope those who promoted this investigation and caused incredible harm to many people will be held accountable. Eventually.
Beginning with Comey.
