I don't know, but I like what else he has to say. Better than the free pre-k that Solomon is pushing.

Someone wants pre-K in Alexandria???? YES PLEASE.

JH will get accredited when the demographics of the school change, plain and simple - and it will happen overnight.

JH is accredited.

Nope. It’s only “conditionally “ accredited, and only because Virginia just weakened the accreditation standards in September. It was in the bottom two percent of the state and is now in the bottom seven percent. It flunked standards for math at all grade levels and has what Virginia calls a “level 2” English deficiency and a “level 3” math deficiency. It was also found to be “level 3” failing for all students with disabilities. It was found to have both “level 2” and “level 3” deficiencies for non-white and for students from low-income homes. The passing level in zen flush represents a flunk rate of 24% — one more % and JH would have flunked.

And amazingly their percentage passing math fell by ten percent in just one year.

Sorry PP. It’s not “accredited” — it’s conditionally accredited due to a relaxation of standards, with multiple repeated failures, and year-over-year continually worsening performance.

So....J-H is accredited.

It’s failing but not officially closed yet, and the public is being officially warned about it by the state. Again.

It's not free pre-K for you - it's just for low income kids. They just want to expand it.

Absolute lie.

JH is not accredited. It has received partial accreditation and only in some subjects and only because the state moved the goal posts on those.

I will continue to report all of these BS posts.

The test scores have risen in most subjects, and as the negative PP admitted, its gone from the bottom 2 percent to the bottom 7 percent.

There is no prospect of it closing. Do you really think the state is going to close one in fourteen of the schools around the state?

The only question is if this momentum can be maintained. Harping on the conditional nature of the accreditation provides no information in that regard.

You're missing the point completely. Claims that JH is accredited are bald faced lies designed to provide false confidence to those most likely to flee the school- UMC white families. It is a lie designed to manipulate attendance to benefit those that are unable to switch to private.

It is a lie designed to drag down other UMC families.

Misery loves company and so on.

I would hope and expect that people would make school choices based on deeper research than looking at anon DCUM posts.

That said, the important thing for UMC parents is how UMC children do at JH. The failure of JH to yet reach full, unconditional accreditation, is not based on scores among UMC children. Its not evidence one way or the other for how UMC children will do at JH.

I personally do not have children at JH and cannot speak to how UMC children do. I am, as a citizen of Alexandria, happy that it is moving in the right direction.

The mayor lives in del Ray? Do his kids go to J-H?

You’re funny. The last school board chair wouldn’t send her own kids to her regular zoned (non JH) school. The top people get to self-transfer.

We absolutely loved our house and neighborhood but moved because we were zoned for J-H. No way.

They go to MVCS, that's where most of Del Ray is zoned. I'm not sure why this thread is mostly about JH.

Because it's one of the three lowest performing schools in the entire state and people that pay $12,000 a year in property tax are required to send their kids there? Because a huge chunk of Del Ray is zoned for it? Because the city has had a DECADE AND A HALF to fix the problem and haven't? Because SB members and city counselors won't even send their kids there? Because they get transfers for themselves but deny others the same?

Yeah, not sure why this is being discussed on a forum about Va schools
