I was also surprised that they didn't mention any non-family relationships that occurred prior to that start of the show. At her age, I find it strange that Big was the first love of Carrie's life. Surely the ladies had some memorable relationships prior to the beginning of the series that could have been brought up. |
You know, ross and Carrie got more annoying as their series progressed. Ross in the first couple seasons was a lovable nerd. Then he just became a caricature, as did the rest of the characters, but his worst of all. |
OP is back! I'm halfway through season 6; just started the episode where Carrie met Petrovsky. OK, I know this show and fiction and all, but I DO NOT buy him asking her out at all. Like, I'll buy Charlotte giving up her worldly possessions to become a Peace Corps volunteer in North Korea faster. |
How does it feel to be so completely dead-wrong? |
Remember when she couldn't afford to keep her place and was mad that no one offered to lend her money, as she was tallying up how much cash she wasted on shoes? "wah, I will literally be the old woman who lived in her shoe!" that's when I hated her the most. |
Which guy on SATC is Obie? ![]() |
And then Charlotte gave the whiny gal her wedding ring as a "loan" (after Carrie had a hissy fit) so Carrie could continue living in that dump! It's like, the producers really do bend over backwards for her. Good luck ever seeing that money again, Char. |
I know it's blasphemous to say it, but I agree with the first poster. Reminds me of Three's Company |
There is only one Ovie, only one Kyle and only one Scooter. |
PP here. I do notice that so many of the scrapes they got themselves into would've easily been avoidable today simply due to technology and social media. The person behind the "Modern Seinfeld" account on Twitter imagined what plot lines could be like today.

Totally agree with the bolded. For women who were all at least 30 at the start, they would have already encountered most of the dilemmas they seem to be always discussing. This article that just came out about rewatching the first season agrees: http://previously.tv/sex-and-the-city/season-1-of-sex-and-the-city-makes-all-sorts-of-whoopee/ |
All her acting was putting her hand on her heart while making declarations. So annoying and predictable. That is the only affectation she has. |
It works for the Golden Girls, too: Samantha: Blanche Charlotte: Rose Miranda: Sophia Carrie: Dorothy When I realized this, I figured out I'd been watching Sex and the City since I was about 6. ![]() |
And I agree with the pp who said your age when you started watching probably affected how you viewed the show. I was 18 when I first saw an episode and they seemed sex-crazed, but so worldly. Now I cannot believe that adults wrote that show and not teenagers. |
It's like sisterhood of the traveling pants. Ha ha. |
