| More attractive than Lee highway in what way? |
|
Drive along Lee Highway from Spout Run to Lexington Street. Look to your left, look to your right. You will see shabby 1950s retail and commercial.
|
| Parts of Columbia Pike are much, much better than Lee Highway - like the section that has the drafthouse and all the cool restaurants and bars nearby. Penrose square is nice. Parts of the Pike are pretty ugly, just like much of Lee Hwy. (Lee Hwy is mostly ugly in FFX too.) |
I actually like the old school garden apartments on the pike. Not all of them, but the ones right after Glebe ( going west) are sort of retro and cool. They are beautifully landscaped. I'd be sad to see them go. Then you get to George Mason and it all goes to shit. |
|
Main corridor col pike has too many poors and latinos. This makes unattractive for the county and poors will be the ones who benefits it.
Arlington county could do little better, if they build affordable housing right next to the court house area, instead CP area. Will it worth it? If county board loves affordable housing. They will love it. I don't think resident loves affordable housing near at my house. |
MONAs should not post after the cocktail hour has begun. |
I think it's drunk ESL MONA! She's my favorite! |
This!!! All the way. When gentrifiers move into the "hood" taxes rise, police drive by with smiles, and there are 3 Starbucks all within walking distance. They bring their uppababy strollers and Percocet addiction looking for something cheap and whitewash the community. Meanwhile Pam and Javier get uprooted from what they know to be their sacred n.arlington( or any county for that matter). Thus can't afford it and have no other place to go. But some of you are hot n bothered because they come to 'your community' under affordable housing. Well if you don't like it.... Then teach your own offspring to stop venturing out in the middle of their identity crisis hijacking a place they could give zero ufcks about. We can all be happy. |
|
Definitely not a drunk MONA, ESL or otherwise
I am thinking either Ashburn or Brookland. There is a fine line |

The big crisis facing Arlington is high school over crowding. If you think AH is going affect your property value, you are looking at the wrong issue.
Here's a petition support a 4th high school in Arlington. https://www.change.org/p/arlington-county-board-aps-should-build-new-high-school-space-not-make-schools-bigger-and-double-shift-students?recruiter=113822210&utm_source=petitions_show_components_action_panel_wrapper&utm_medium=copylink Maybe you've been around since before the boom and won't be hurt by bad decisions in our county. Or maybe you paid a fortune to live in Arlington for good schools... |
Yes, be sure to note, like many of the petition responders, if you just moved to Arlington from DC "for the schools." Nothing is more likely to influence the county board than a bunch of people who just moved here and are instantly demanding that the county spend literally hundreds of millions of dollars on behalf of their toddlers.

^^^ pay attention guys. These are the sorts of people deciding that your kid is fine going to school online or in shifts. SIGN THE PETITION!!! |

Interesting thread
I love the poster who hit the nail on the head Why do you want low income ghetto people staying around again lol |
Yes, please sign the petition so we can build a high school with enough seats for all our children to take civics and learn how government works. |
