if you are having a hard time breathing today it is because they used a lot of air to air brush that picture to make her skin look so perfect

+1

It worked.

I'm a straight woman and find this revolting. I have an obese son, who struggles with thyroid issues as well as my family's endocrine issues. I know the pain and health issues he's suffered over the years due to his obesity. It should not be celebrated.

I agree.

Size 16 is not a healthy weight.

With the obesity epidemic in this country, we should not be normalizing a size 16 as a desireable body.

I am supportive of putting less skinny women on the cover, but this woman actually looks fat.

Yes, I would.

Hell no. She should not be flaunting her body. She's got a beautiful face and with some flattering clothes on, she'd look great. A chubby woman in a bikini is not a good look.

yup, burka for her

Kate Upton has a terrible body. No curves and super flat ass.

Beautiful lady. I'm impressed with the flatness of her stomach, given her weight.

With that said, I think a 12-14 would have been a better representation of a plus-sized bikini model.

No curves? Really? She's a 34D with Measurements-39-28-36.

Oh, good grief! The *average* sized woman in the U.S. is a size 12-14. This lady is a size 16 which is pretty darned close to the average. This woman IS normal and perfectly beautiful.

The much smaller sized women on the covers of SI are also gorgeous but do realize that a size 4 is W-A-Y below average size. Like it or not, size 2 does not represent the average woman.

Wow. She is gorgeous. I'm a straight woman, but even I can appreciate her lusciousness.

She looks so soft, curvy, and feminine.

they should not make bikinis in that size. the sad part for us guys is all the fat ladies are now going to be wearing these on the beach and at the pool this summer so bring lots of beer in that cooler and sit back and watch the show.

But we've been normalizing and celebrating size 00 for years. Why is it only disgusting and pandering only on one side of the BMI scale?

A lot of suffering comes from trying to fit an unrealistic (and equally unhealthy) body "ideal".

she is not fat or unhealthy
take a seat

Then use a size six to size ten model.

This lady is at an unhealthy size. We have an obesity epidemic in this country, not a too thin epidemic.

Any woman who would sleep with you should rethink her decision.

Big breasts doesn't give you curves. The lower half of her body sucks.

Yes, she is surely not waif thin like previous models, but she is not the representative size 16. Nice try SI, but you are not going to out Mama June on the cover now, are you?

There is no way she is that big with no celluite, bulges or stretch marks. That is photoshop magic.

She is a young woman, not a 40 year old who birthed a couple of kids. That size is not healthy for a young woman.

She's 29, 5'9" and per the internet 185 lbs. I imagine they're using a couture size method when calling her a 16, and that she's closer to a mall size 12.
I am the same height, carry it in my hips and butt as well, and was between a curvy cut 10 - 12 pant at that weight (though my chest isn't as big).

There is no way she is a mall size 12. I'm 5'9" and weigh 165. I work out five days a week and she is twice as big as me and I'm a banana republic 10 or 12. She is closer to an 18. My husband LOVES my curvey ass but took one look at SI cover and said "she's fat"

What do you think? Is her body really that smooth, free of cellulite and lumps? Or is it photo shopped?

I'm envious of women who can gain weight without looking 6 months pregnant. Unless that's photo shopped.
