She is such a clown.

It's interesting how women fail badly at running tech companies but do a decent job running f500 defense contractors.

You can't blame sexism because it isn't like defense firms and the defense community is totally women friendly.

Looks like Forbes was off.

Even more embarrassing than her performance as CEO is the "media's" kid glove treatment of her since she's a female CEO of a tech company and a moderately attractive one at that.

On the plus side, women in tech have matched men in terms of pay for failure:

"Despite a lack of growth in the core business, the board has continued to approve higher pay packages for Ms. Mayer. Her compensation totaled $42 million in 2014, a 69% increase from previous years. Her high pay has been flagged by U.S. proxy-advisory firm Institutional Shareholder Services, which said earlier this year that “shareholders should continue to closely monitor the company’s pay programs and in particular, the magnitude of CEO pay.”"

Why did the board approve such a large increase?

Might've been stock options related to the sale of Alibaba (which, to be honest, has been Yahoo's most valuable item for years.)

Agree. She is a show pony.

Sucks that people might think women can't lead profitable companies because of these jokers.

i can think women CAN lead profitable companies, but I don't think they can in silicon valley. Not yet.

Tory Burch , Marillyn Hewson (lockheed), Phebe Novakovic (general dynamics), Indra Nooyi (pepsi) are all quite good execs and ceos but the valley is a different beast than fashion, cpg, or more stodgy defense contracting that relies on more stable revenue streams.

She is the Gwyneth Paltrow of business - vapid, narcissistic and a false sense of superiority.

No, I'm not jealous; I have no respect.

Does it matter that Yahoo management declined to have the usual conference call with investors after it announced its third-quarter earnings today?

Well, yes, because it means everyone is getting zero information from CEO Marissa Mayer about what gives with the massive hacking of 500 million accounts it suffered last year.

186 million dollar golden parachute for being an utter failure.

I guess we have achieved gender parity now - women can also get totally undeserved rewards for their performance in the c-suite.

$186 million. Wow.

"A yes vote, which is widely expected, would end Marissa Mayer’s largely unsuccessful five-year effort to restore the internet pioneer to greatness.

But Ms. Mayer, the company’s chief executive, will be well compensated for her failure."

How could anyone have turned around Yahoo?!

That really is the mystery.
