People who deny the civil war was about slavery are apologists for slavery and racism. Or your just really dumb. Not a single current historian - as an one who works in academia- has written otherwise.

My mother's family is owned slaves and fought in the civil war. I'm proud if our long ties to this nation but I view my ancestors as dumb asses and racist traitors to the United states. Confederate flags are really a 1800s version of a nazi swastika.

The Confederate Flag is the de-facto hate banner of the Klan and of white supremacists, period. There is no denying it, there is no debating it, there is no two ways about it, there are no ifs, ands, or buts about it.

This entire thread is stupid. God, I long for the good old days when people weren't colorblind, but color competent. I am from here and always thought it was wonderful because people understood each other and each other's histories.

What kinds of conservatives are there?

There are ones who are involved in hate groups, who use 'southern pride' as a code word for white supremacy

There are ones who lie and deny, who would have you believe the people in the photos are not real

There are the ones who just sit silently and say nothing

The only ones I have respect for would be the ones to stand up and do the right thing to call it out for what it is....

Np. In my view, the flag should Never be displayed--it is repulsive beyond belief. To the pp, African Americans comprise around 20 % of VA's population. But area snowflakes can still attend their de facto segregated schools.

No. But don't learn it here. Start with documents from the founding fathers. Mike Church has excellent, accurate, historical references
