I would imagine they want to retract their original post. They clearly didn't realizing where and to whom they were posting. We are all not like sheep here. Not gonna throw down our priorities and go running there with our children.

These people are clueless.

Ridiculous. Not applying to Harvard.

As someone being priced out of private school, I have to say that I was pretty excited about the possibility of a $20K tuition. Then I scratched the surface.

The founders (the Sandifers) are buddies with Texas Governor Rick Perry and have financed him and his crackpot, ruinous Tea Party. I try not to assume guilt by association, but to this expatriate Texan (who is dismayed by what's happened in her home state), this demonstrates the very worst judgment possible.

I checked out the web site. The founders and teacher (I only found one) all had business experience but no teaching experience whatsoever.

Is the founder of Washingon Latin, The Rev T R Ahlstrom involved in this behind the scenes? He's been part of several conservative-base curriculum schools. After he was forced out of Latin, Ahlstrom started a private academy in Alexandria dedicated to Geo. Washington, which subsequently failed. Folks have been (not so eagerly) anticipating Ahlstrom's second act.

Why would it?

Any more news on Acton? Would love it if this were a more affordable, exciting, high quality private option, but I'm afraid that's probably just wishful thinking.

How are they going to pay for teachers for an 11 month school year with tuition half the price of any other private school?

So is the school open now or is it starting this fall?

And why didn't the OP, Nicole, ever come back to answer questions? She started the conversation. Is that the Socratic method they will use at their school?

The lead teacher has an MBA, but doesn't seem to have teaching credentials or classroom experience.

Looks like they are planning on outsourcing a lot of teaching to the "apprentice guide" position they have advertised--no degree or credentials required!
