My 20-year GW reunion is coming up and a bunch of us have decided that a bar crawl is in order. We'll be visiting the places that are still around and a few that are under new management. My tentative lineup is: Black Rooster, Rumors, Mighty Pint (former Madhatter), Sign of the Whale, Mackey's (formerly Samantha's), Exchange and Bottom Line. Tonic@Quigleys may get a visit too.

I miss seeing reggae and industrial shows at the Roxy, dancing at Chicago's (now Buffalo Billiards) and Anastasia (now Gtown Banana Republic), 3rd Edition, Pall Mall, the DoMe and Odds. (18th amendment closed right before I got to town.) I actually prefer the new 9:30 club to the old one, but I miss 15 minutes. And Tracks. Miss Tracks so much.

Don’t you mean 21st Amendment?

Anyone remember Mr Eagans and the popcorn machine?

Wow...I had forgotten that one...we would hit it after Big Hunt..

I like the new 9:30 club better but really, really, really miss 15 Minutes. Also the Bayou, Insect Club, Kiliminjaro.

And my absolute fav for neighborhood bar - Toledo Lounge.

Bar at corner of R & 17 - talking about Townhouse? There was also some crazy bar upstairs right there that you used to have grab bag beer nights and dancing. Place was tiny.

I used to work at 13th and & and there was this really dive-y bar behind our building, wish I could remember what it was called. We also used to go to this weird basement bar called Stans that had hard core functioning alcoholics day drinking on random weekdays. Not sure if that’s still open or not.

Behind 13th and K? I know the place you are talking about, it was so cheap. What the hell was it called...

Oh yeah! That where the “euro trash” guys went. Cringe. But that’s what we called them!

People will disagree with this I’m sure, but I think the reckless end of smoking cigarettes inside in these legendary bars have them a dangerous and exciting atmosphere.

I’ve been out in the last few months at popular places, and they are so incredibly lame it was sad. It had none of the energy and vibe. People all looking at their phones.
