Yeah, right. Pointing out that Haycock is a center school on page 8 of a long thread, much of which discusses the AAP center at Haycock, is really helpful for the OP. If you want to hit the reset button now, fine, but many of the comments about Haycock have not been constructive. As for Lemon Road, it is a new center, so the AAP enrollment as a percentage of the total enrollment is going to increase. As to the Longfellow/Cooper thread, there have definitely been Kilmer parents suggesting on that thread that AAP kids there should be moved to Cooper, just as some Haycock parents supported the move of some AAP kids from Haycock to Lemon Road to relieve overcrowding. |
| You do realize, PP, that not everyone reads every single page of these ridiculous threads, right? It's possible, the poster didn't see other references to Haycock being a center. |
Touchy touchy....so sad. |
| Lemon Road and Kilmer are both center schools, and that the worst overcrowding in the area is projected at Shrevewood and Kilmer. It does seem like this thread expanded to discuss other schools besides Haycock and Kent Gardens, so these facts certainly seem relevant. |
| Why doesn't anyone mention Timber Lane? It feeds into McLean, as well. |
Because they are afraid of the brown people who don;t speak English. The other McLean parents are busy trying to get Timber Lane redistricted to Falls Church HS to get the minority and low SES'ers out. |
You can find past threads on Timber Lane if you use the search function. It's a split feeder to Longfellow/McLean and Jackson/Falls Church. It's not an AAP center like Haycock, and doesn't have a language immersion program like Kent Gardens, but it does offer LLIV services. There are some nice older homes in that area. |
BS. I've seen a few threads from people here noting that those neighborhoods are closer to Marshall and Falls Church than to McLean, which is true. It's also the case that, if there is a lot of growth in Tysons closer to McLean and Marshall, it might make sense to consider moving the half of Timber Lane that goes to McLean to Falls Church, which has the lowest enrollment of any high school in the county, just as FCPS may decide to move other parts of McLean and Marshall to Langley. But no one is currently trying to get Timber Lane redistricted. If McLean parents were as hostile to diversity as you suggest, Timber Lane would never have been assigned to the McLean pyramid. And there are people who seek out the McLean pyramid because it has more SES diversity than the Langley pyramid. That would largely be lost if all of Timber Lane was moved to Falls Church. |
