Let me hear from you repubs. What are your reasons for voting for McSame..

Haven't read the entire 8 pages, and am not here to argue, but as a red-stater living in the 2nd bluest county in a very blue state I'll just say the following.

I don't trust Obama. These are dangerous times we're living in. If Iraq collapses on itself then the entire Middle East could go sky high. I'd prefer to let the 4 and 5-star generals in charge determine when it's safe to leave Iraq and to make sure it'll stand on its own rather than some immediate 16-month pull-out plan by Obama. If things collapsed, Iran would take over the entire region and we'd be far worse off than how we were when things started. Iran supports Hezbollah, suicide attacks in Iraq, arms insurgents, has a nuclear program, is threatening to wipe Israel off the map, and just today made a bunch of noise about how they could close the Strait of Hormuz with some new weapon technology. Are these the people you'd like to see take over the Mid-East? With Obama's immediate 16 month staged pullout plan, they'd have a far better shot at accomplishing just that than with McCain.

Taxes. Obama wants to raise them. We already have a progressive tax code in this country. The top 10% of income earners already pay something like 50-60% of the federal tax bill. Why punish people who work hard and are successful? People at the bottom end of the scale already pay little to nothing in taxes. Even liberal economists have admitted that the Bush tax cuts have had a lasting impact on the economy and have kept it running pretty strong throughout his administration despite inhereting a recession and the 9/11 attacks.

The reason for the housing collapse is three-fold. First, Greenspan kept interest rates a bit too low for too long which heated up the housing market big time. Next, the mortgage lender industry got a little overly aggressive in offering loans which heated things up even more, and possibly made some loans they shouldn't have. Lastly, PEOPLE ARE STUPID and signed up for mortgages that they didn't fully understand, and wouldn't be able to afford if rates went up, thus leading to the current crisis. DW and I are both disgusted that our hard earned money is going to bail out all these people who made poor decisions for themselves. What does Bush have to do with this? Nothing. Anybody who blames Bush for this just shows that they don't have a full understanding of the situation.

And did I mention I just don't trust Obama? The guy has more flip-flops than John Kerry, only worse. He likes to hold multiple opposing viewpoints on an issue at the SAME time. The fawing media won't dare take him to task on this though because they're all smitten with Obama. How the heck are you supposed to figure out who this guy really is and what he really believes in? He has NO record. He has NO experience. He's all over the map with his statements, and every other week he's saying something different or having to explain something he said. Like that McCain ad said, is this guy really ready to lead the most powerful nation on earth??? And as a white person, I was offended that Obama "played the race card" and implied that McCain would try to scare people because Obama doesn't look like other presidents on the dollar bill. Uh, yea ok. We're an inter-racial couple here. I'd have loved to seen someone like Colin Powell or Condolezza Rice on the Republican ticket and would have gladly voted for them. In fact I think I'd like either of those more than McCain. Sadly the people that are most capable of leading often have no interest in leading.

So anyways, there's more, but those are the big things for me.

Same poster as above (12:13). I've wanted to put one of these on my car sooo badly.

Not that I've ever been all that big of a Bush fan, but it would be a way of protesting against McCain as a candidate which honestly a lot of conservatives are not very thrilled about. But it's also a way of annoying liberals who I know hate Bush soooooooooooooo badly, and I enjoy annoying liberals. The only reason I haven't ordered one of these is because too many people don't have a sense of humor, are angry about everything, and would probably just key my car or something.

I'd love to see you put that logo on your car. As a liberal, I wouldn't be annoyed at all. In fact, that should be the official McCain campaign logo.

Seriously, is that W08 sticker a Republican sticker pining for 4 more years of Bush or a Democratic sticker saying McCain = Bush? Maybe it's a New Yorker cover????

But like the New Yorker cover, it's a joke that people are likely to interpret in contradictory ways. Hell, there is no bigger joke in the country than Bush, but some people actually take him seriously!

Thank god there is another conservative on the DCUM threads--I thought it was just me. Also-I would love that W sticker--and I do love W

You're joking, right? What could you possibly love about Dubya?

Here's from another W admirer -- what he's done for people with AIDS in Africa, for one.

51% of the country as of the last election. Next you might point out approval ratings, to which I'd counter that Congress' approval rating has nearly dipped down into single digits for the first time in recorded history. People are displeased in general, but have far more confidence in Bush than anybody else in government. There's no bigger joke (and disgrace) in the country to us righties than hate-mongering left-wingers who have far more disgust for Bush than someone like Saddam Hussein. All it is is misplaced anger and a very unhealthy attitude in my opinion.

You're joking, right? What could you possibly love about Dubya?

Right, sheer disbelief that somebody could actually like dubya. (Addressing this to the general crowd here making similar comments) Are you all living in a bubble? Is this politics sub-forum here "yet another" bastion of liberal groupthink? "If everyone in a room is thinking the same, then no one is thinking" - Benjamin Franklin.

So one thing I love about Bush... I love the fact that he could care less about what people like you think, and will stick to his principles despite a lot of disapproval. If Bush was an approval seeker like Clinton, he would have reversed course on Iraq and yanked us right out of there 2 years ago, the war would have been loss, and the credibility of this country would have been ruined for the next 100 years. Instead he stuck to his guns and we're winning in Iraq. It's called leadership. I like that. If the Democratically controlled Congress had gotten the votes, those <expletives> would have yanked us straight out of Iraq too by refusing to fund the troops. What a disaster that would have been. And now years later with liberals screaming and dragging their nails at every step of the way after Bush kept repeating "stay the course", now we finally see what he's brought us to. VICTORY. Oh what a horrible thing!

Typical Bush supporter. Anyone that disagrees is an enemy.

First of all, the Iraq agrument is a bunch of BS. We're only there because he had a score to settle w/Saddam for his daddy. We should've been in Afghanistan going after the people who caused 9/11. Osama bin Laden is still making tapes w/threats. And sometimes, you should care about what other think, especially, when he has proven over & over again his level of incompetency. There's a difference between being confident & standing by your principles, & being a complete arrogant idiot.

Like I said, if america is stupid enough to keep the cycle going w/McSame, we deserve what we get....

Real leadership would have been not rushing in to an expensive, disastrous war for fictitious* reasons in the first place. We could have saved five years of agony. And maybe we would have caught Bin Laden by now!

*NO CONNECTION TO 9/11 -- which lots and lots of people knew
*No weapons of mass destruction -- which most of us didn't know but we knew enough to see that Iraq had been successfully contained, in part, by policies set in place W's friggin' father, HW, who was SMART ENOUGH TO NOT OCCUPY THE COUNTRY.

Thanks for reminding us and redirecting the argument about Iraq. We should NOT even be there in the first place; there was no legitimate reason to attack a sovereign nation. Particularly when it posed no threat to the US. Saddam Hussein was not sympathetic or in cahoots with Al-Qaeda. Politicians can say Al-Qaeda had cells in Iraq. Well, honey, they had cells in the US while Dubya was president. Should other countries use that affiliation to attack America?
