stella & dot trunk show...direct sales??

The difference is that if you are in field sales, I can ignore you. You (who host these shows) are selfishly using your personal relationship with me to get me to buy things I otherwise wouldn't.

If you're thinking of becoming a Stella and dot stylist please do the world a favor and read a book/newspaper instead. Educate yourself so you don't come off as a mindless 'girl.' Please!

Seriously....if anyone is thinking about signing up as a Jewelry consultant, I highly recommend Jewels by Park Lane out of Chicago. I've been with them for only 6 months and the experience has been wonderful. Park Lane's Fashion directors start out making 30% commission and can move up quickly to 35% - 45%. I'm already making 45% commission....and it's easy!! Park Lane is the LARGEST and BEST direct selling jewelry company in the world and has been in business for 59 years!! Why would anyone want to sell anywhere else? The perks and incentives for ALL consultants is awesome. Park Lane offers TWO travel incentives every year....available to EVERYONE to earn. After just 6 months, hubby and I are travelling with Park Lane this summer to Cabo San Lucas for an all expense paid trip for two. Park Lane's hostess & customer bonus program is like no other I've seen in the marketplace. The uncondtional guarantee on their products is like no other in the jewelry market either!! If you want to start a business..... I highly recommend Jewels by Park Lane.

RELIEF. I am not the only person who gets stomach cramps any time I see a Stella & Dot eVite in my inbox. Miserable pyramid marketing just chipping away at whatever is left in genuine female friendships. Such a shame. I'll keep my friends; you keep your "parties" and let's leave it at that.

Personally I’m a jewelry junkie and love anything sparkly and gold. I found that I hardly have anytime between work and taking care of my child to sell and host parties. I found a great site that allows you to make a boutique on your own time and add jewelry to your store from home, called Kitsy Lane. The company is all online and simple to use. All you do is add whatever pieces you love to your store and invite friends. Then they give you great deals and coupons on jewelry and accessory pieces. It’s so great being able to add pieces from home instead of hosting parties, which I have 0 time for these days. Check it out at: http://bit.ly/18lhPwH

I think you’ll love it as much as I do!

That is awesome. I'm sure your friends love being forced to buy the jewelry you sell without having to socializes others because that it is too stressful for you to host parties. Do you even know how you come across?

I work for a living. I don't invite people over to my house in hopes they buy the crap I'm peddling so I can make a fake commission (points added to a card). Please...do me a favour and just ask me for 20$ and leave me off your invite list. My cheeks are sore from fake smiling. Stella and Dot??? Not ever again.

I am not currently working for a Direct Sales Company, and my husband and I are business owners in another industry. I am ready this blog because I am considering starting a Direct Sales Company. It sound like so many folks have had bad experiences or know someone else who has. That is unfortunate. I can offer the flip side of the coin ... when I was five, (now over 40) my mom signed up for a "party plan" company, simply to earn an all-expense paid vacation to London. She earned that trip, and my entire life, my two siblings, my dad and my mom were able to travel to Hawaii five times, Paris, Caribbean Cruises, Italy, and on and on ... all while traveling the world globally - for free -- she always earned a six figure income .. still does to this day. She has seen many people esp. women, benefit from their efforts of selling a product and recruiting anyone at shows that would like to join her. No pressure really - what is funny as I read the comments is that most people say how these companies require reps to hound friends and family-- that is usually where one starts their businesses - with their "warm" market. BUT, with in a week or two, a GOOD rep should be well into groups of people with whom they have never met. That is the beauty of the business. Leads me to believe the failure rates listed here are from people who failed to get past their inner circle. That is also why they lost money. I know people today, that have tried some of the companies and not liked the concept for themselves personally, but, I also have personal experience with people who have built thriving businesses and have never had to miss a child's baseball game or ballet recital, because they have FREEDOM of working their own schedules. Lastly, I can tell you that usually such companies have a built in Hostess program whereby IF a person cannot afford to buy all the items they love, they can host a show and EARN the products for free. I know many people who were not financially able to buy all the things on their list, or Christmas gifts, etc. Earning products for free enabled them to gift to loved ones, they otherwise would not have been able to. There is a GLASS HALF FULL approach to this and anything ... if one is looking for it!

Cool story, bro.

Statistics disagree with you. These companies often tout "you can make what you want to make!" but that just isn't how the cookie crumbles. You make a penance compared to a traditional job, and thinking you'll do otherwise is misleading for those in 99% of these roles. But it does sound like it worked for your mom...who got in on it early and surely has a down-line to envy; she's making money off those who join tomorrow.

The invites will start again soon. What excuse will I make up this time?
How about...

I can't make it but why don't you come to my daughters' three hour piano recital?

Sorry but I shop at yard sales and I have the tacky jewelry that I could ever need.

I would be more than happy to come but I am diabetic so please provide food. However, I have a nut, milk, gluten allergies so please make sure you your food doesn't contain any of these ingredients.

I'm going through bankruptcy so can I borrow money from you to buy what you are selling?
