| Maybe 1,000 people showed up to trump's Mall rally/Opening to the 250th celebration. that is less than the average high school football game. And for that, they closed a bunch of streets and a metro station? |
| Relatively nice day, hot but not overwhelmingly humid. Normally on a day like today, you would see tourists eating lunch on the mall, joggers doing the circuit to the Capitol, bike share tourists going from one end to the other and so on. Currently, there is like literally no one on the mall at the "state fair" - like iiterally no one. |
That suits the current mood for our 250th birthday party. A lot of Americans are not feeling particularly celebratory right now and with good reason. |
| Photos? I want to see this "celebration." |

I commute to a building next to Mall every weekday. Wednesday afternoon at around 4pm, on opening day, there were definitely more people than usual milling around, some with patriotic shirts. Security has been pretty tight all week, there are multiple police cars at every major intersection.
But today Thursday? Fewer people already. Compared to a usual summer of tourists, I'm not sure this event is making a difference. The foreign tourists have been scared away from the USA or are only going to the World Cup games. The domestic tourists are maybe staying closer to home due to inflation and high gas/fuel prices. |

Trump to give a speech on July 3 (I use "speech" advisedly) at Mt. Rushmore and you know the SOB is going to try to get his hideously evil ugly face there.
I hope he decides to walk around and falls and breaks his neck https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/usa250/2026/06/25/donald-trump-mount-rushmore-250-anniversary-celebration-dakota/90682953007/ |
