| I love the MAGA morons claims that GLP is driving health insurance up and not their stupid policies. |
it is there for chronic conditions, yes. But if you have diabetes, you should also focus on nutrition and lifestyle modification along WITH the medications. Just like with hashimotos. I know, I have it. And I chose to make lifestyle modifications to treat it and avoid medications as long as possible (once you start them it's much more difficult to get off it). I dropped my antibodies from over 100 to about 10-15, my TSH (which is largely a pointless number) from 4.5 to 1.5, and all the other T4/T3/Frees of those/etc into Optimal range all with diet and supplements. So yes, I would not just pop meds for the rest of my life without making modifications to assist. |
Yes they pay for it out of pocket. They don’t even go through insurance at all. The doctor prescribes it and you pay full price on whatever website you’re using. It’s not that expensive. $304 currently for 2.5 (smallest dose) of Zepbound, which some people like to stay on to reduce side effects. |
There is no evidence the lifestyle modifications can treat Hashimoto’s (though you need to take Synthroid on an empty stomach, and an anti inflammatory diet will never hurt). The only recommended treatment is Synthroid. There is no evidence that Hashimoto’s can be cured. If you make the antibody, you will continue making antibodies. |
This is dumb. Almost all policies greatly limit ivf now. Many employers offer a supplemental policy to cover that. nicu babies are not the result of ivf. And adhd is a real issue to deal with. Grow up and learn something. |
It is neither glp-1 nor maga. Prices went up. |
Your healthcare was never 500 a month. Your employer paid the rest. I pay a family plan for 4 and pay both the employee and employer payments and that is 3800 a month. |
And prices went up because hospital systems have merged, consolidated, and bought up independent practices. And private equity has bought up so much of healthcare. |
Yup 100% this. My dad was supposed to have surgery at Mount Sinai in NYC but because of a dispute between Mount Sinai and Blue Cross Mount Sinai went out of network. Now he needs an entire new team and hospital. |
While we’re being precise, neither you nor your employer are paying for healthCARE. You’re paying for health INSURANCE. |
This is clearly an early retirement, with 2 dependents to still cover. It's a choice. |
|
The way to solve healthcare is to eliminate the healthcare benefit subsidy for any state or govt retired worker.
They since retired and have all day to work on this will solve the problem in a matter or weeks. |
This is about the dumbest comment I can imagine. You would rather die than take insulin? This seems like an advertisement for natural selection. |
No, it is because Republicans let the ACA subsidies expire. Blame those we hired to look out for us, not the victims of this broken system! |
I am well aware of that fact. The COBRA costs are $2400 for an entire family, with a $1.25K/$2.5K deductibles. And that includes medical, dental and Vision. Medicare is only medical. Point is if we had a real UHC system, costs would be greatly lowered. People would get the medical care they need, before things become a real health issue. The person who is sick would pay $20 and go to urgent care, get treated a few days into the illness, versus waiting 5+ days, heading to the ER and possibly being admitted with pneumonia or something worse, when what they had was a cold/flu/bacterial infection that was easily treatable for $25 medication and we could prevent an ER visit (where costs are 3-4x) and possible hospital stay. So even overlooking the humanity of it (providing people with basic healthcare), it would save money. |
