If this occupation will not be ongoing, the same can be said for it.

Plenty of arrests say otherwise.

Using number of arrests as a metric incentivizes the police to arrest as many people as possible. Not to address violent crime.

As long as the arrests are for illegal conduct, whether littering, vandalism, reckless driving, carjacking, drug offenses or homicide, it's all good. Broken windows.

Good thing the grand juries are returning no bills at a record pace.

Shouldn’t we be protesting communism since Trump is buying up private companies?

The federal government now owns 10% of Intel.

Isn’t that communism?

Not entirely (as the government does not control the entire market), but it is aligned with communist ideology and moves toward the communist end of the spectrum, especially if policies enable authoritarian control of the country. When a government gets to decide who has wealth and resources and who doesn't (see, e.g. what the administration is trying to maneuver with Universities and corporate black lists).

Here's a very basic overview of the continuum across capitalism v socialism v. communism:

It was amazing! Lots of positive energy. Very diverse, in age and race. Curious the numbers but regardless, nice to see people care.

"Caring" and effective activity are not necessarily the same thing.

+1. And if all you have is "positive energy," whatever the hell that is, I'm not sure what was accomplished. Except that you can all pat yourselves on the back and ensure that you get in your 10,000 steps today.

Looks like a unite the right rally, but without the polos and khakis!

Was this intended to be a whites-only event?

What we have here is the self-congratulatory illusion of productivity, when we actually have is nothing of actual substance or consequence.

If I wasn't white, I would not be brave enough to go to a protest right now. Where I live, even Indigenous people are getting rounded up by ICE.

The protests are useful in letting people know that others are not OK with the US's descent into authoritarianism.

Do you understand why white people protest while POC may not feel comfortable?

Literally they are protesting troops in DC who are sweeping anyone not white enough off the streets. Geez, open your eyes people.
