All the deputy chiefs of staff are making 200k, and almost all employees got a 20% raise last yr (right as the state government issued a hiring freeze, and buyout offer).

Significantly higher than the Omalley and Hogan governments.

Salaries everywhere are higher now than during the O’Malley and Hogan governments. And they’re set by the legislature, not by Moore.

I'm aware of that.

Who do you think asks the legislature for their 20% bumps?

These are just very, very high salaries for state government- many of whom are making more than Moore himself- the governor.

He lied on his resume. He didn't earn a bronze star.

I don’t care who is the Dem nominee there is not one Republican that is an American T this point in time. They are liars

We are the United States of America given the Republican Party is now the lying party, criminal party installing a dictatorship and criminals and white nationalists not one is fit for office!

Stop voting for Republicans their voting record is public they do not care about their constituents and again support a dictatorship

My family did not die at 9/11 or at Pearl Harbor or Afghanistan for Republicans to be the party that destroys the United States of America and the Constitution!

Moore is probably just Clooney's latest beard. He has run through the local boys.

DP.

Wes Moore requested the higher salaries.

And while it’s nice to hand out benefits, salary increases, and other “free stuff,” it is not free.

It comes at the expense of our budget, which is suffering at the moment (thanks in part to Moore).

I regret voting for him. Won’t make that mistake again.

Why is this a debate. He will win 100%. No way in 2026 will Marylanders elect a republican.

Maryland had a $5.5 billion surplus at the start of 2023, but by late 2024, it had accumulated a $3 billion deficit. In early 2025, the state passed a significant tax hike to help address this deficit, with a capital gains surcharge on high earners. An analysis warned that this plan could also impact middle-class families.

In recent years, Maryland has lost billions in adjusted gross income (AGI) through "wealth drain," as residents with higher incomes have moved out of the state. This outflow is concentrated in specific areas, including Montgomery, Baltimore, and Anne Arundel counties, and Baltimore City.

Maryland's economy is highly dependent on federal jobs and contracts. Since January 2025, the state has lost more than 15,100 federal jobs, which pay higher than average private-sector wages. The Board of Revenue Estimates warned that these losses, along with a slowing labor market and potential federal shutdowns, could further dampen growth.

When I heard he gave everyone a big raise that did it for me picking him. He's not a good governor spending like crazy.

My mom in Ellicott City hates Wes Moore, thinks he is a terrible governor. However, she will vote for him b/c she refuses to vote for a Republican who would align himself with Trump.

Trump hates Wes Moore so Marylanders are in for a rough ride if Wes gets reelected.

I wonder if the Key Bridge project gets put on hold because the government is shut down. Some of these shut downs last for two months.
