Actually, this thinking is the problem. All book skills and no social skills is a huge problem. Her parents and all of her friends somehow failed this young person. There is no way this just happened as a one off - she was excused from proper behavior for years to arrive here. She was not taught how to act socially. To be this way given her age and pedigree is a major red flag to a system too focused on test scores and degrees. I wouldn’t touch this candidate with a 10 foot pole.

I was part of a large NY summer class back in the heyday and while we partied a lot, I actually was not aware of this happening if it did. I have stories of spending tons of $$$ but nothing weird or salacious.
