Schools no longer protected from immigration enforcement. Prepare your kids.

Not yet, but they will happen. It’s one of few things Trumpers voted for that they are likely to get.

When he starts cutting their SSI and food stamps, he needs to unleash their ire against someone else.

Red states are rearing to go. Didn’t Texas volunteer a massive amount of land for detention camps?

We can pretend that this isn’t going to happen, but we won’t be able to deny that we did nothing to stop it.

At the beginning of my career I had to reassure many immigrant parents that their children were safe from ICE at school, until the policies were established. I think parents are alarmed until we know more—my predominantly immigrant school had man, many more absences than usual today. I do have a concern that high schools with predominantly immigrant students may be targeted, since the optics of older students being removed is very different than for younger ones.

In my district, undocumented seniors and those from mixed-status households who have all of their required credits are asking to graduate at the end of the semester. They don’t want to risk missing out on their diploma.

This is definitely something Jesus would do. /s

How would they stop them? Most districts don't even have school police (or school resource officers) in school buildings anymore. Who will stop them? The secretary?

Government offered one way plane tickets out of the US to anyone that wants to leave willingly. At this point you’re a criminal and basically asking for it to get ugly if you’re still here. They’ve given you a choice and you chose this option so quit whining when you’re arrested and they ask if you want to take your kids with you. They aren’t playing and you’re an idiot if you think otherwise.

I see you and I thank you for being who you are.

My kids are white citizens but go to school with 98% Hispanic kids. I don’t have any way to know their status but can reasonably assume some of them are undocumented or have parents who are undocumented. The thought of this happening to them AT SCHOOL makes me physically sick. ICE does not belong in elementary schools. I can’t believe this even has to be said. It’s bad for all the kids, not just the undocumented ones (or citizens with undocumented parents).

have you ever thought about the impact of having families involved in criminal activities in our schools? What does that do to the school environment where our kids are supposed to learn and grow? It’s concerning to think that our children might be surrounded by influences that aren’t conducive to a healthy and safe learning atmosphere. when resources get stretched by illegal activities, it's our tax dollars that are being diverted. This can take away from the funding and attention that should be supporting our family’s and children’s educational needs.

Here’s what illegal immigrants might be charged with if caught breaking the law:

Illegal Entry (8 U.S.C. § 1325) - For those who enter the U.S. without proper authorization, it’s a misdemeanor with up to 6 months in jail for first timers. Repeat offenses can lead to harsher penalties.

Reentry After Deportation (8 U.S.C. § 1326) - If someone returns to the U.S. after being deported, this felony can result in up to 2 years in prison, more if they have a criminal record.

Visa Fraud (18 U.S.C. § 1546) - Tampering with visa documents is a serious felony, punishable by up to 10 years in prison, and up to 25 years if linked to more severe crimes like drug trafficking or terrorism.

False Asylum Claims - Applying for asylum under false pretenses can lead to serious legal consequences, including charges of perjury or fraud. These are serious offenses that carry hefty penalties including prison time.

Your children are surrounded by American citizens who are criminals. Are you concerned about that. How about if IRS comes into school and audits your taxes in front of your kids?

Immigrants are less likely to commit a crime than an American citizen.

The things listed above are civil not criminal offenses…. Like driving 60 in a 55.

So no I’m not concerned.

If they’re here illegally then they’ve already committed a crime. Are you really this stupid?

That’s not enough to get MAGA riled up. Trump calls them murderers and rapists.

Sadly today a 16 year old Latina immigrant was gunned down in a Tennessee school by an American whose inspiration in life is Candace Owens. He’s ashamed of being Black and he’s a White Supremacist

My sister is married to an undocumented immigrant. He’s part of the DACA program. He crossed the border when he was 7 years old about 27 years ago. He grew up in NYC and is still there. His extended family is huge. His mother and father have two kids born in South America and two kids born in US. They live in a NJ town that is pretty much all Latinos. I would guess the majority are illegal. It is the quietest, cleanest small city I’ve ever seen. They all work, no government benefits. They rent an apartment and unlike the kids in our upper middle class suburb none of them have ever been arrested or in trouble.

Go 30 minutes south and you will see ghettos of subsidized housing with garbage everywhere, graffiti, and useless men hanging on the street corners. American born, all of them.

I hope this government now full of outcast rejects can gather some common sense and leave families alone who have been here for 30 years, never been in trouble and are self sufficient. Many of them save for years and retire back where they were born anyway

You’ve had 30 years to get legal documentation and failed. Sorry you’re still an illegal. Bye!

All MCPS schools were recently issued a 2 page summary document called Immigration Response Protocol for “what to do if ICE comes to your school.” Clearly the superintendent doesn’t think it’s a joke.

And that document will have to updated since the rules are different after yesterday.

Since when are Republicans against state’s rights?

When it is a threat to national security- like the illegals being booted from the sanctuary cities today.

I definitely don't think this group that PPP describes should be first up for any action right now. But, we keep hearing that these migrants are asylum seekers and it's so so dangerous where they came from and if anyone dares put them on a plane back to their county of origin, we are sending them back to certain rape and death by violent gangs and no one could possibly be that cruel. Or, is it that they are going to work for xx years and retire back home??? Two totally opposite narratives. If it's the latter, Democrats needed to have fixed the lawful, economic migrant worker programs ages ago. Those people would have been safer, our American economy and labor needs could be taken care of, and now we wouldn't be in the situation where plain old, garden variety economic migrants are claiming violence and fear of death back home and breaking the asylum system.

Yes. Then they will have to prove citizenship.

Under Trump’s last administration they arrested about 600 US citizens a year and deported about 70 US citizens a year.

This is my fear.

One of my kids is biracial AA and white, but is commonly mistaken for other ethnicities. In this part of MD, people assume she is Central American —even Latinos. We’re making her carry her passport card now.
