Yes. I was reading about this time, and want to find out more. Apparently at that time we were at our closest point to losing our democracy. Corruption, even in the SC, was rife. Civilians finally got fed up, but don’t know what other dominoes there were for that. They had the scene you mention in the show The Gilded Age.
