| And let's not forgot west Nile virus, right in our DC backyards: https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/1224227.page |
So I actually had parvovirus last week, and I missed a day of work. On the bright side, I was happy it wasn't covid, because I had been to dinner the night before with my whole family, including my parents in their 90s. |

33-75% will die from EEE if infected???
... Communities were put on alert after mosquitoes in the area tested positive for EEE and the state reported its first human case of the virus since 2020. Public health officials say the disease was diagnosed in a horse in Plymouth, Massachusetts, which is what raised the town's risk level of EEE to high. A man in his 80s was the first to be infected and diagnosed on 16 August. Between 33% and 70% of people will die from the disease if infected, with most deaths occurring two to 10 days after symptoms begin, according to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. ... https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/ckg2m4knvxgo |
Nope, build those immune systems up. Have your children wear a mask if you feel necessary but this will come and go. |
| Who has had their kid get the latest covid booster? If you haven't for them yet, do you plan to this year, tho booster probably not effective for latest 'xec' variant.? |
Wow-you're a real piece of work. The kids get us sick, then we get each other sick and the cycle repeats itself. Then parents and admin complain theres a sub shortage. Grow up and keep your sick kid home like every parent USED to do. You just sound entitled and like you don't care about your own kid. Not a good look. |
Your long covid brain fog must be particularly bad today, given that you can't seem to remember what schools used to be like. |
I know! Last thing we need is kids back at home cutting into my me time. |
Most people work, but I know that's a foreign concept to Covidians. |
| How are your schools doing with various viruses post Thanksgiving season? |
Ssshhh. Don’t jinx it by asking. (But it’s really quiet this year - kids haven’t been out, no snotty noses and going through tissues, staff hasn’t been out. Nothing like the past few years. -HS teacher) |
