USC and Columbia Protests

It is what the resident troll wants, obviously. Note the casual out of the blue mention of Pravda just a bit above. Agents of chaos, online and on campuses, are supporting and financing this shit to create more support for Trump from people appalled by the mounting leftist extreme movement. That is the real danger of these protests and rhetoric, and people should not let themselves be fooled. These mixed up kids are just tools Russia/Hamas/The Islamic Republic of Iran and China are using to install Trump and destabilize the west further.

My daughter is a Columbia student. She is not participating in the protests but is upset by the chaos and tension on campus. She sympathizes with the movement to some extent but is worried about getting doxxed and/or suspended if she protests. She said the lawn protest site is mostly peaceful and students feel safe walking in its path. But the outside agitators on Broadway are another story. They are not Columbia students. She also said the majority of students at Columbia were shocked and angered by the police arrests. That was a traumatic day on Campus. No one likes the current president of Columbia

The president is an embarrassment. She should resign. Her colleagues are spitting in her face for giving up academic freedom.

Ackerman and his ilk would love that

I mean I guess if Ackerman and his community are the big donors and this is a capitalist society, then their viewpoint holds sway right? The academy is for sale to the highest bidder.

To the idiots:
1. China HATES Trump, but they respect him.
2. China LOVES Biden Demon Rats, but have ZERO respect for the GREEDY lickers.

That said - I was watching some of the videos this morning, and was struck by just how annoying these protesters are. It reminded me of the Occupy encampments (which weren't as anti-semitic, from what I recall) - but in look, feel, tone, behavior. I remember those irritating call and repeat chants, the high pitched whiny voices of those leading them, the whole thing.

When did young people get so annoying? Was it always so?

What annoys you is music to the ears of others. Students are protesting against repression and you find them somewhat grating. Go figure.

Not somewhat. Extremely.

This is exactly what Democrats voted for, unfortunately. Your elected politicians didn’t change at all.

There is no antisemitism just support for Palestinians which make some Jewish student “feel uncomfortable”. Only those who think Palestinians must be ethnically cleansed from the world for Israel to exist would equate support for Palestinians, calling for a cease-fire or demanding an end to a holocaust antisemitic.

Now lying about what is actually happening and crack down on people not supporting a foreign country will actually create a real backlash.

Are you really still denying that these protests are rife with anti-semitism? Are you seriously not paying any attention?

Or are you about to "very fine people on both sides" me here - except you think only one side has fine people in it, right?

Get your head out of the sand and look at what this is. Like the PP - I support a two state solution. I've hated Netanyahu since before it was cool. I also don't think that these idiot kids should be terrorizing Jewish students, stabbing them in the eye, "occupying" college campuses, or any of this other nonsense.

While politicians are terrible in general, Republicans want no healthcare at all for women, so Democrats are still better.

These kids seem perfectly comfortable advocating for a genocide of all Jews.

If you actually follow the facts you would understand that 99% of the Columbia student protesters are not advocating for a genocide of all Jews.
They are focusing on divestment. But why bother with facts when they are inconvenient to the narrative you are determined to stick with

You can say that all day long. When you support Hamas, which they do, you support the killing of Jews. Stop sugarcoating the truth.

So require a loyalty pledge to Israel or how about requiring all students convert to ultra orthodox?

There is a significant difference between signing a gd loyalty pledge to Israel and not calling for killing Jews.

When you lose the Universities and colleges you have lost the war.

You mean the universities that charge hundreds of thousands of dollars for a crap education? University enrollment is going down because people are realizing it’s a joke and a waste of money.

My crap education got me a job that pays me several hundred thousand dollars a year, but you do you.

My brother makes several hundred thousand dollars and is in complete control of his time. He dropped out of college.

so the fine- if teh universities are so useless, dont go or send your kids? Also these protests are NOTHING compared to the protests these kids boomer/hippie grandparents got up to during the Nixon administration. I think that antisemitism is a real problem- you can see how deeply embedded it is but just feeling afraid b/c you are different is something that every other minority on campus faces, If you want the sympathy you have to also endure teh sufferring- yourselves, not hand me down suffering from your grandparents.

? Are you saying it's a GOOD thing Jewish kids are faced with antisemitism on campus? Would you say that about any other group?

No I'm not saying its a good thing- Black kids, gay kids, trans kids, Latino kids, Muslim kids, East Asian kids, white women in certain settings feel afraid and uncomfortable and experience hostility. None of those groups should suffer that way but first- in the suffering olympics, feeling hostility as you go about your life on a college campus is nothing and the discomfort is nothing compared to what people who wore those identities went through a single generation ago- I mean ruby bridges is in her 60s!
People should be tough and thankful for the opportunity they have compared to the suffering of their forebearers, I say this as a visible minority who's grandmother suffered PTSD from displacement and I grew up hearing about mothers smothering their own babies b.c they were hiding and didnt want to be found. When did people think we lived in a post racial post hate society- sure it should be hate free but this is the real world. we are SO much safer and people in Sudan, people in Yemen, people in China, people in Palestine, people in balochhistan and the border regions of Israel are actually suffering death, starvation and displacement. Its sounds like people need to learn to be tougher. Kind of like why everybody hates on Megan Markle- what a whiner, she thought integrating the British royal family would be easy? people are too entitled these days. What we suffer as minorities today is nothing compared to our parents- the arc of history turns towards justice but it bends slow. I mean Gaza children are being deliberately starved by an Israeli govt minister and you feel scared that someone is shouting at you, then you go to your warm home with plenty food- you lose the suffering olympics.

All American kids at Columbia are privileged. Omar's dd is literally whining about being starved and homeless, which is pretty lacking in self-awareness coming from someone saying they are advocating for Gazans, whose family can easily get her a hotel and some food. It sounds like you are saying being called names and being threatened on campus is okay though, because there is worse out there for someone on earth? That's a pretty bad slippery slope. Jewish kids are certainly not saying they have it worse than any of the people you described, just that they'd like to not be physically and verbally threatened for being Jewish. If that's too much for you to consider, you might be an antisemite.

Do you and your daughter realize her future employment prospects are diminishing by the hour? Who would want to hire any of these entitled fools?

All of this, plus they should definitely not be expressing sympathy for terrorist groups or actions and they should probably learn some history from any history faculty that remain who haven't confused schalrship with activism.

This bs is what results when everything is relative and any means are considered justified.
