You can get the real numbers from the actual SAT report of you kid because it shows you the school average.

The average of the students who sat for that one test.

Which often is everyone or nearly everyone.

Only if it’s an in-school test day which doesn’t happen at every school and certainly not for every test. Some schools host an administration on a Saturday but don’t have a weekday in-school test.

St. Johns High College High School - 1280
Our Lady of Good Counsel High School - 1270
Academy of the Holy Cross - 1240
Connelly School of the Holy Child - 1220

Wow that is amazing. More than 100 less than top independent schools. I guess test optional really is benefiting some students and hurting top test takers.

And where is Georgetown Prep in your summary?

And I’m pretty sure that SJC has more National Merit Scholars than Gonzaga.

Catholic Boy School Academic Rankings:

Georgetown Prep
SJC
GZ

SJC is not a Catholic boys school. It is also not better than Gonzaga academically.

Gonzaga is not a true Catholic school due to lack of diversity. It’s population is more akin to the Cathedral schools and should be compared as so.

Cathedral schools are quite diverse - about 40 percent persons of color ie: asian, African American, latino, not to mention several muslim and jewish families so also racial diversity. That said, I thought Gonzaga was also diverse as well?

LOL!

DP: It's absolutely true, and you would agree if you knew about Catholicism beyond clickbait headlines.

You seem really triggered by just a laughter. Lol.

Not sure why all of the non Catholics are so triggered by this data. And as an aside, I have absolutely no problem with DEI programming done correctly. I don’t think you can claim to be Catholic and be so unwelcoming of other races and cultures. That said for those putting down the scores, we literally don’t care. We want a Catholic education for our kids so it comes down to finding the best fit, not SAT scores. We aren’t envious or have a desire to go to the independent schools which may have higher scores.

So getting your child the best education they can get isn't your goal? You are ok with getting a subpar education for your kid, for what indoctrination?

Interesting that over 1300 kids are vying for 300 spots of a “subpar education” at a popular Catholic school in DC. Other Catholic schools in the area are only able to accept a fraction of the applications they received. So much for subpar. 🙄

Agree. Nothing sub par about it!!

I would never send my kid to a catholic school. That said, I don't see the issue with the scores. Those are fine scores. Some will do worse, some will do better. Schools don't make "better" students. Students make schools, period. When I look at the kids my own kids went to preschool with or were friends with, they all went to different kinds of schools. Some went public, some went parochial, some went private. Even the ones in gifted programs did not end up in ivies or top 50 schools. Nearly all go to the excellent state flagship or good private colleges.

Umm this has no bearing on whether they are Catholic.

The answer to your question is, no, I absolutely do not want my kids in public school. So I will take my swanky “sub par” private over your crumbling, overcrowded public that must accept everyone.

Then your school isn’t particularly impressive

Right, you basically just said your school falls in the middle of the pack.

Well yeah... Middle of the pack for free. Imagine paying $50k±/year and getting these scores. Yikes.

Some of us don’t care about SAT scores averages. That wasn’t even on my list of concerns when we selected our Catholic high school.

And why criticize these scores anyway? They’re all solid scores.

DCUM is far too obsessed with putting others down.

The cope from private school parents are strong here. First it was didn’t care where their kids matriculated. Now it’s don’t care about SAT averages. Pretty soon it’s gonna be don’t care about the drugs they do either.

It’s inherent conflict of interest to think the school where you are shelling $20-50k a year might be a dud.

Yes, because the slippery slope argument is not a logical fallacy.

+1

The goalposts are constantly moved to justify the price. It’s pretty amusing.
