I found Lily Gladstone's performance to be a bit one-note, and also the script didn't give the character much of an arc.
Emma Stone's performance isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I do think it was more interesting and challenging showcase of acting. |
Florence Pugh also. WTF. I consider myself a fashion victim sometimes but this was just too much. |
He has said that the purpose of the film was to draw lessons for today. In fact, that’s basically the main lesson from the Holocaust- Never Again. I’m not sure why drawing those lessons is now called “appropriation.” |
feck off. |
Also, the Israeli government itself routinely invokes the Holocaust in defending its actions in Gaza, including at the ICJ genocide trial. |
Emma Stone’s performance, and the movie Poor Things, are riveting. She is not undeserving. I haven’t seen KORFM yet. |
There is a Gaza thread you can head to. |
It’s called floating straps. I don’t like it either. Must be a British trend. |
Right. It would be good if some of these people talked just once about the hostages. We know you all hate Israel, blame Israel, etc etc. Just, acknowledge the hostages. Acknowledge them without your "BUT" that comes next, every time. Or even with the but. Just acknowledge them. |
They were acknowledged by Glazer when he specifically noted the victims of the October 7th attack in Israel. |
You’re in denial. |
I have seen Killers of the Flower Moon and Lily was absolutely fantastic. Deserving of an Oscar for sure. But Emma Stone... I'm sorry but that was an Oscar winning performance in every sense of the word. Riveting is exactly the word for it. She breathed life and soul into a character that could have gone over the top and completely unbelievable so easily. They were both deserving - which is why they were both nominated - and I completely understand why one would want one to win over the other - but Emma Stone was certainly not undeserving of this win. |
| Hearing about Trump again was annoying. That parasite thrives on attention, people need to stop giving it to him. |
She wasnt going to win because of Leonardo (didn't he boycott academy?) connection. |
Your whining would be better received if you pointed out who was more deserving instead of mindlessly tallying up people of color. I really don’t think Lily Gladstone or Jeffrey Wright were that great in their roles. |
