Family member has Covid and is going to work, super bowl party, happy hour etc unmasked - is it illegal?

Why do you think "everyone is sick with something respiratory" currently? Mainly because people's immune systems are shot. This was not normal pre-covid.

I'm 7 times vaxed (2 boosters last fall). Just got covid for the first time. Started paxlovid 24 hours after first symptom. Let me tell you that what I just had with covid was still way worse
than "a cold". It ranked up there with the last time I got the actual Flu 7 years ago (had tamiflu with that as well). This was worse than my flu and my flu, even with tamiflu, knocked me out for a week and another 2-3 weeks before I was anywhere close to a "return to normal". So if I can be that sick after being vaxed/boosted and Paxlovid I really don't want to see how it would be without any of those precautions/aides.

Now note: the last real illness I had was the flu 7 years ago. Nothing else since then except a few very minor colds. So even for the first 3 years where nobody masked (pre covid), I was not continuously sick.
Yet now everyone (who isn't masking when out in public) is routinely sick, almost constantly. What has changed? They've all had covid 2, 3, 4+ times.

I’ve had covid twice and it was worse than a cold but much less worse than the bad flus I’ve had. I’d also choose covid over food poisoning or norovirus. Yeah it sucks to have a new seasonal illness, but sane people adjust. And no, covid does not weaken your immune system.

You're an idiot. Covid can not only weaken your immune system, it can weaken your heart, your organs. Just because you lucked out with a mild case doesn't mean everyone does. People lose their lives and their health long term.

Only someone who is mentally ill or completely evil would infect other people with their deadly sickness.

Many folks with covid have no symptoms, so they don't even have a reason to test. Many tests are not effective - there is another thread on that as we rage on this one.

WHAT DO YOU EXPECT PEOPLE TO DO? SHALL WE ALL JUST STAY HOME ALL WINTER LONG FOR THE REST OF OUR LIVES?????

If you have symptoms of Covid, test. If it's positive, wear a mask and stay home until your symptoms clear. When you test negative, wear a mask for 5 days around people.
This is not complicated.

It’s also not necessary, even according to our government health experts, but clearly as an armchair hypochondriac you know better.

According to our govt health workers! Ahhahahahahahaaahaaaaaahhhhahahaha!

Okay, so you’re admitting that your above advice is not actually based on any official recommendations from the CDC, NiH etc…just your own lunacy. Got it.

Yes, because the NIH said not to wear masks early on.

Nope, but you could mask up when you are out and about. Really not that difficult to do, especially when in an airport, on a plane, on public transportation, in target or the grocery store, etc. It simply is not difficult to do. Save your chances of exposure for when you want to socialize or eat in a restaurant.

I got rid of all my masks. Sorry. If you still have some you're free to wear them whenever you're scared.

Not scared, just intelligent enough to know that covid is very different from a regular cold or the flu, in terms of the long term damages it can do to your body. We are just beginning to understand part of it 4 years in. In 5-10 years, after people keep getting infected multiple times a year, there will likely be many issues. It's closer to HIV than the flu, it stays in your body and can reactivate at any time, further damaging organs/vascular. So I will live my life, but also be careful and not risk exposure for the little things in life (like a 3 hour plane ride, or shopping for groceries). Long covid is really, almost 20%+ of people have it, and the more times you get covid, the more your risk increases.

I also care enough about society and others to know that my masking can help prevent someone else from getting sick. Too bad you apparently don't care much about others.

Well if you are smart, you would know that the covid vaccines do not 100% prevent covid. That's a well known fact, yet not a reasons to not get the boosters. They do help to prevent some (40-50%) and then almost 100% keep you from dying and at over 90% keep you out of the hospital. So yes they did their job---I also don't seem to have any long covid symptoms. So they also helped with preventing that.

OMG this is a silly thread OP!

You have got to find something else to fixate on. Even CDC ie healthcare workers think you are insane. They are lifting the time you need to isolate if COVID positive because even the govt has come to the conclusion that -

1. Covid's gonna be around. How are you going to live with it because I promise that if not your family member some stranger will have it so you better mask every second out in public from now till eternity!

2. You haven't died or gotten long Covid I assume after 4 years of it. I'm betting that you won't. Ditto for most of us who are leaving the house and are vaccinated. So I'm not sure what your point is of being so scared?

3. Covid like a lot of viruses will from time to time cause someone to get really sick. That's applicable to almost all viruses. If you've ever gone out in public and sneezed you too are guilty of possibly causing someone to get ill and worse!

People like you and the folks who are still screaming about the dangers of COVID should lock themselves in their home and never leave or talk to the rest of us who have decided to choose life over fear.

This thread proves exactly why I believe no space alien, if truly intelligent, will want anything to do with humans - who are the most stupid animals to live on earth. Seriously, is it illegal to not isolate if you have Covid - how is this even a real question?!! Are you that bored with your life you can't think of anything worse than having a virus we will never be able to eradicate and need to learn to live with?

Back in the day - people occasionally went to social events , school and work while they battled the symptoms of cold. It was a thing. In the real world.

No.
If you are concerned about getting germs from other people then wear a mask. Or stay away from people.
That’s life in the real world.
Protect yourself if you are worried.

I have a family member that did this. Tested positive for COVID, was visibly ill during a corporate holiday party with over 150 people in attendance, and claims he felt peer pressured to come, which I feel was just FOMO.
