Say all the Boomers who filled stadiums a few summers back to listen to “Bono” and “The Edge”.

How about Pink? Eminem? Sting. STING for crying out loud. Can you take them seriously? Or is it only artists who aren’t white who have unusual stage names that you object to? Kid Rock ok with you?

How about Lorde? Macklemore? Moby? Avicci? Seal?

Which MS kids? Do you know all of them? Mine certainly weren't complaining at all. (They thought the performance was cool and fun and a good way to practice their Spanish.

LOL!

Then call a spade a spade. He’s dumb.
He’s no Kendrick Lamar.
They tried to make this be that, but it was never meant to be.
Can’t wait to see him what they choose to showcase next year.

It's really weird to me that people don't realize that Bad Bunny has been like, the most popular artist by far, by FAR, for many years at this point. Nothing to do with ICE, or being "propped up" because of "DEI". Like it's been multiple multiple years that he has been epically popular. And I say this as the person who posted a few pages back about not recognizing any of his songs, because I never hear them on the radio stations I prefer, but even I, an out of the loop middle aged mom, have heard of him because he is A-list famous. It's like our parents generation claiming they have no idea who Tom Cruise or Julia Roberts are and act surprised and offended that people prefer to see them instead of a Judy Garland movie. Like.... it's ok for it not to be your thing, or to prefer your own generation's songs, but it's quite another to be 10000% culturally out of the loop

People seem to not realize that Bad bunny was in the superbowl half time show 5 years ago with Shakira and J Lo.

He’s not mainstream. They keep trying to push him as such with the recent commercials, snl and Super Bowl. But it’s not that great of music, singing, nor unique.

He’s been the number one download on Spotify for 3 of the last 5 years and won the Grammy for Album of the Year this year.

You can think whatever you want but your opinions mean nothing in the face of sales and industry recognition by people who matter.

I thought OP was a woman.

Unclear. All we know is that OP doesn't know the difference between "lure" and "allure."

Please define “mainstream “ — so we can all be on the same page with this discussion.
Also: But it’s not that great of music, singing, nor unique”. (Sic) Would you like to continue this discussion in a language other than English?

What I find fascinating and kinda proves my observations are majority of people defending him because backlash to Trump and their stupid alternative half time show.

If Trump were to say the sky is blue, the reflexive anti-trumpers will argue loudly that the sky is green. They will call stupid and maga and a whole host of other insults anyone who questions them that the sky is green.

Most people are anti-trump (fine) and they are proving themselves to be sheep just like Fox viewers/MAGA cult members by joining in the groupthink that the sky is green.

Guys - the OP is from 2023. Well before the SuperBowl/Trump controversy. Just look at the replies on the first page and a half - those replies were from 2023. Compare it to all the later posts from 2026. See the difference in tone?

I’m not a rap fan. Not my genre, I don’t get it, I choose not to listen to it. But I absolutely appreciated Kendrick Lamar’s show last year and found myself liking some of the music he played. Good, memorable beats.

Bad Bunny? I have nothing against the guy. He was good on SNL and Happy Gilmore 2. But his music is not the genre I prefer. After watching the SB show, I still don’t get his music at all. No memorable beats or anything. The best explanation I can find is that his music is good in clubs.

I applaud the people who are questioning Bad Bunny. It’s nice to see people with critical thinking skills and not becoming sheep/falling prey to Groupthink.

05:25 and others: Some people found BB earlier, others are just listening to his stuff. BB gains more popularity when spreading messages a LEADER should be. He and Pope Leo should collab

Please it's the old white people claiming they loved his message that they didn't understand a word of and got their dried up juices flowing. It's a bit much and comes across as pandering. And they had never even heard of him before the Super Bowl. What a coincidence.
