Very tone deaf. I know teachers who “don’t have summers off” so they are working less than 12 months a year and are making more than what I do who works 12 months without paid insurance. I knew what I was getting into with my career choice and so did you. |
Did everyone actually receive notification of this change? |
They are still "off." Paid or not, they are not working. And they know that going in. Many get a summer job. That's their choice. |
My spouse worked for a company that provided FIVE - FIVE - paid vacation days. My spouse had been working for over 25 years when this company took over. I am very grateful for the really great teachers out there and I do believe our country overall undervalues and underpays teachers. But I'm tired of the complaints about every single thing here, acting as though nobody in any other profession endures the things they as teachers must endure. I think they've trapped themselves into their own little bubble and are out of touch with the real work world. |
I don’t think the teacher who is the most frequent voice on AEM represents APS teachers as a whole. |
Maybe teachers can take Monday to research new doctors while the rest of us are working since they have the day off. |
Guys, just because this was a little tone deaf doesn’t mean the flood gates are open to sh!t on teachers. Come on now. |
I think when you lobby to parents and complain at a School Board meeting, you get what you get and you don't get upset. |
I’ll be at services but okay. |
As someone who came to APS from a private school, this really isn’t that big of a deal. We get so many more benefits, including, better pay and a pension. While I was teaching in the private sector we swapped carriers at least twice. I can’t say this to my peers, but, come on! |
lol |
Tone deaf AGAIN! Love that you get to celebrate your religion with a paid day off, something that no other non-Christian worker gets. |
I wish you could. People think that a very vocal group speaks for everyone. |
As a teacher who’s ending a hard week, and loves the kids, and has a lot of prepping and grading to do this weekend, it saddens me to read such negative comments from parents/community about our profession and working conditions we did not create. All based on a few who complained about a switch of which we also have no control. Sigh |
That’s exactly how the APS staff page is. It’s always the same 10 or 15 people claiming that everything is going to cause a mass exodus and they’ll have to quit yet they never do. I know several of them also post on AEM. |
