Yes, they can offer actual money, in some cases 5 figures to these players. The money comes from a pot of money supplied by boosters, big football programs have this and are using it for non revenue sports. |
She's lightning fast though. |
Going to Clemson would be a blast! Have you ever been to a Clemson football game? It’s not Harvard, but I would have zero issues if my daughter played Lacrosse there. Talk about a great overall college experience. There is no professional league where girls can make millions of dollars playing lacrosse. College is the final destination. Let the kids enjoy themselves before they’re stuck behind a desk for 40 years. |
| Amen!!! |
You're insane. It depends on what you're going to school for, but the school overall is very good. What kind of bad reputation does the coach have? Kids are flocking there, new recruits and transfers alike, so she can't be that bad. |
This would not be the first time I’ve heard others say Kwolek can be difficult to play for. |
No kidding. She had players quitting left and right at Richmond. Has a real mean streak. |
Grew up in South. Know that world well. Lots of friends who went to Clemson, Auburn, Ole Miss, etc… and yea joined them for some games and parties. Pass on that for my kid, thanks. Now if the better southern schools like UGA had wlax, then maybe. |
THIS 💯 |
Going to Clemson over Yale, Michigan, etc. will ensure she is behind a desk and not running the show....or she will become a women's lacrosse coach..... |
| I don't think the purpose of the discussion is to downplay how awesome it is that many players from this area are recruited from schools across the country. The question is if you are good enough to write your own ticket, do you use that golden ticket at Clemson? How many home football games each year weighed against offerings by other better academic schools that are also great lacrosse programs? |
I think its more than just some home football games, its a fantastic college town. ITs beautiful, weather certainly nice most of the year. Are we assuming that the kids offered by Clemson would also be getting offered by Yale, Michigan, Northwestern? |
I think everyone takes your point that students make better contacts at Yale, but it's an outrageous exaggeration to say that it's "ensured" that they'll be behind a desk after going to Clemson. |
| The major is more important than the school. I'll take a Clemson Engineer over a Yale Art History major any day. |
| Another thought that may not be popular but worth considering; these schools that are luring players with NIL money are creating a culture of me rather than we. How will this impact team chemistry? Look what happened with Clemson NIL player last year... |
