Do you enjoy attending a wedding?

Love weddings, but especially family weddings. I usually end up attending 2-3 weddings a year. Best for me are the multi-day Indian weddings from any region or religion. Hosted in India or any other country.

^ That said, a hundred years ago when an ex and I were traveling in India, I got pulled off the street to come attend a stranger's wedding - and my gd was the food delicious. Indian food is already my favorite food, and the food at the wedding just blew my mind. I haven't had a lot of good meals at American weddings, by and large.

And I did love my own wedding! It was very casual

Whoa. Is this common practice? Sounds fun!

If my immediate friend circle, who all wine to Hs with me, only one wedding was local.

So yea, I love going to them but I don’t love dropping $2k every time.

Whatever reason, indeed.

I think one main issue is that current day weddings, even if they are not "over the top", are a circus intended for social media postings. The weddings I have attended that asked all guests to not take photos/use their phones (for the ceremony OR the reception!) are my favorites, because you know it is a genuine union, not for show.

I enjoyed them when i was in my 20's, but at 46 i see them for what they are and find them a big waste of money.

I hate getting dressed up and spending money on wedding attire. The food is always mediocre and I end up at a table making small talk with people I will never see again.
