What secrets do most of your friends & family not know about you?

I have been estranged from my mother since college, father passed away when I was in my late 20's (they divorced when I was in elementary). Mother was a toxic alcoholic who was physically abusive. I spent most of my 20's in therapy which is where I decided to leave her behind and not have any future relationship.

DH comes from a close family and although his parents are out of state, we talk about them, they visit, we visit them and my son has had a relationship with them.

At 4yrs old it occurred to him that his friends generally have two sets of grandparents and we have never even talked about the ones on my side. We were in the car one day and he caught me by surprise when he asked, "Mommy, where are your parents." I told him they had both passed away.

My mother has since passed away and nothing makes me happier than the fact that she never met my son.

I've never told anyone that he asked me this and that I lied to him.

I was a stripper out of college to put together enough money to move to another city and become a teacher. No regrets about anything, and 25 years later I'm still grateful for my teaching career.

Same happened with a relatives youngest. Unfortunately she passed, but her Widowed husband is raising the kid.

I’m so sorry. We experienced infertility and desired more children. I’m 48 now and it is another chapter of sadness to know we won’t have any more children. We were able to have 2, so we are thankful - it’s just different than we thought.

Most my friends don’t know but I’ve slowly been telling people.

I had 1 friend say “I wish I could just ask my mom why she gave me up” so I said “well I’m not your mom but I gave a baby up you can ask me”… she was very happy to talk to me.

I enjoy cigarettes and indulge on work trips to Europe/Asia/Middle East, which is usually 4-5 times a year. Never home or in the US.

I don’t have a bachelors degree. I’m not that many credits short and I do have an AA degree, but at this point in my life (at 43) I am not going back to $chool.

I lied on my resume from about 2002 - 2008 and got my career off the ground. If an employer had me fill out an official application, I would only list the AA degree. Never got caught because the resume got me the interview and I guess I always passed the bg check because I didn’t lie on the official paperwork.

Now I completely leave off education and go on my two decades of experience. And never had any student loan debt.
