Did college turn your kids, especially daughters, into political radicals? If so, which college

This. Avoid northeastern & west coast schools if you value having a modicum of common sense. And don’t hire from those schools either unless you want every meeting to be a woe is me therapy session.

Education leads to more liberal/Democrat views, because the more you know the more you know Republicans are just craven, racist, self-serving hypocrites.

There’s a generalization.

I'm amazed that anyone still identifies as Democrat or Republican. Both sides are ugly, in part because of this hatred of any view that differs from their own.

Me too. I no longer can! I'm a PP who has given up on this thread because it just shows most parents think dogmatic thinking in universities is fine as long your side is winning. Very few posters saw the dogmatic thinking itself as a problem and antithetical to what should be happening at universities.

There are at least three of us who feel this way.

Two points:

1. Most professors are NPR-type liberals, not seething angy wokesters. To the extent the "illiberal woke culturual Marxist" stereotype is true they are mostly picking it up from other students. See this as an example:

https://compactmag.com/article/a-black-professor-trapped-in-anti-racist-hell

2. If your child goes completely buck wild in college - in any way - politically, alcoholically, sexually, whatever - that is on you, my friend. Not the college.

It’s odd to think of them as “sides”.

Either you are trying to oppress people or you’re not.

It's one thing for your kids to shift liberal. It's a completely different matter for them to shift to leftist/ progressive.

If that happened to one of my kids, that would be the day I stopped funding their education.

Progressive is hardly left-wing nut job.

There’s a place in the metaphorical circle where the left meets the right in crazy-land. Progressives are far from that place.
Surprised to see my kid move slightly left in a southern-ish school. Response to environment. We just try and keep the conversation going, and point out other view points.

You can't claim to be a critical thinker when you are a member of a political party and you agree with 90% of what your party is pushing.

I never really viewed these liberal professors as a threat because it was obvious to me that something was wrong with them. I just never took them seriously, as they clearly had no idea how the real world operates. Trying to manipulate impressionable kids is pathetic IMHO.

Stop funding their education because they don’t have the same beliefs as you? How narcissistic of you.

Let me guess. All the people here posting angrily about colleges “turning” their kids “woke” are all white :::hard eye rolll::::

Reasonable concern. Interesting that many posters do not believe in the effectiveness of indoctrination. Happens at lots of schools--both liberal and conservative. Happens in many countries such as China, Russia, and in the Middle East. Probably happens at Disney training as well as at other businesses and corporations.

My impression is that OP wants his/her children to get an education, not be subject to indoctrination focused on extreme political, religious, or social views whether conservative or liberal.

I watched a national news report last night that shared survey results which showed that Generation Z workers/employees are being fired frequently because "they are too easily offended" and, therefore, too hard to manage, to train, and to generate productive work.

Good. It's heartening to see that not everyone is cowed by bullies.

The irony being that the people who are fighting to call people slurs, and label them mentally ill and say racist things and the r slur all under the guise of free speech are the true bullies.

And so who, exactly, is "fighting" to do any of those things? You actually do sound mentally ill.

You must be blind. Also proving my point about bullying.

Here's what I see: the people speaking out about the blatant unfairness of biological men competing in sports against biological women are being screamed at, called horrible names, threatened, and shouted down (J.K. Rowling, Riley Gaines, to name just two in the public eye). But sure, that's not bullying in your very odd worldview.

Let's just ignore JK Rowling supporting Matt Walsh who constantly makes comments that demean women, and is very homophobic and transphobic in general. So apparently she's not nearly as concerned about women as she claims to be... Or the fact that she's had a history of being racist (I mean Kingsley Shacklebolt... really?). And she does a lot more than talk about biological men competing in sports.

Matt Walsh "constantly" demeans women? No, actually, Matt Walsh defends and stands up for women. He can at least tell you what a woman is.
Please post one example - just one - of a misogynistic quote by Matt Walsh.

Nah he's a sexist pig and thinks women are lesser to men. And he hates feminism. It's so sad to watch a bunch of people stand with an awful person just because he agrees with you.

https://thehill-com.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/thehill.com/homenews/campaign/569535-noem-rips-conservative-writer-matt-walsh-over-horrible-misogyny/amp/?amp_gsa=1&_js_v=a9&usqp=mq331AQIUAKwASCAAgM%3D#amp_tf=From%20%251%24s&aoh=16822649812326&csi=1&referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com&share=https%3A%2F%2Fthehill.com%2Fhomenews%2Fcampaign%2F569535-noem-rips-conservative-writer-matt-walsh-over-horrible-misogyny%2F

Also the whole "what is a women" "they don't know what a woman is" nonsense is just fake intellectualism. Nobody on the left has claimed they don't know what a woman is. You just reject our definition.

DP. Your link doesn't work. And your last paragraph is absolute BS.

I want my kids to attend colleges in which there is NO prevailing dogma, one in which ALL voices are welcome and students and faculty don't cancel people who say things they disagree with. Do these schools exist?

Spoken like a true moron.

Facts are facts. The more education you have, the more likely you are to vote Democrat.

The GOP has become the party of the dumb.

Yes, facts are facts. So why do Democrats deny obvious biological facts? Your entire premise is flawed.

WOW. I read that piece and felt sick to my stomach. I certainly hope if my kid was ever a part of one of these horrific "seminars," they would have the courage to get up and walk out. Unreal.
