Thank you to whomever mentioned tagging books that are not yet available at your library! I didn’t know that existed and there are several books that I hope my library buys. |
glad to see this. I was JUST grumbling about not being able to suggest a book the Overdrive way. |
I got a notification today that a book I tagged with “notify me” got purchased! |
Notify me is working great, I love it! I’m just not fast enough after the notification and end up 3rd to 5th in line, haha. But I’ve noticed acquisitions of more copies when the waitlist gets high enoigh. |
One thing I’ll add about “Notify Me.”
I’ve been searching by author. It seemed odd that sometimes only a few of their books would show up for me to tag. I started searching by title, too, and usually if they didn’t show up in my author search, they show up in the title search. I don’t know why, but just throwing it out there to search both ways, if you haven’t. |
I hate Libby. I loved Overdrive. Libby does not answer inquiries or help I guess it leaves it to the library, I just got an email regarding a so-called tag (dont see ability to recommend like Overdrive and Libby's deep search does not show upcoming titles by best selling authors.) Then I think I need to place a hold. I dont fing Libby intuitive and the tags are stupid! I just want to place a hold like I do a hard copy book in the physical library. |
How are you getting these notifications? In the app, or over email? I've been using this tag in advance of the publication date for some popular releases, but never see the notification when the book has been added. I miss the days of being able to recommend and then be automatically on the list! |
The app notifies me...both with a push notification and in the app. I did it for the first book in a series and one of my libraries is getting the next ones in the series without me tagging! So happy! |
SAME! I just don't understand why this is the functionality they decided to remove from the Overdrive site....it was so simple to recommend books and then have them *poof* appear in my Holds. I hate Libby--I've tried to search for new books to recommend and half the time, I can't find them in a deep search or remember how to deep search since the last time I decided I would give it a try. I'm giving upas I have so many books in my wish list, but I really liked making recommendations for books and growing my holds when they became available. |
Another question from someone with multiple library cards.
Sometimes when I'm in between holds and need a book to read, I like to browse currently available books. Is there a way to browse both catalogues at the same time to broaden my search? Thanks! |
