Another Republican-caused disaster

As is someone actually reading that gaslighting and moronic tweet and thinking, yes, this is correct and is another piece of evidence that rail and saving the environment is a bad idea.

Pete doesn't run the trains. nor does he operate the engine, nor does he run the company. I thought you were against socialism?

Why isn’t the Secretary of Transportation doing anything?

Because the governor very explicitly told the federal government that he has it covered and doesn't want their help.

Same feeble excuse for Detroit? This is a Federal intrastate issue.

This is the worst environmental catastrophe in American history. The entire country will eventually be affected. And EPA declares everything is safe?

The federal government can only intervene when the governor requests it.

Evidence? Zip.

And this governor believes in the GOP mantra that it’s better to screw over your own citizens to make it look like the government is incompetent than to ask for and receive help that would save your citizens but also show that government is helpful.

Nah, Republicans love socialism for themselves. Here the PP isn’t really advocating for socialism so much as they want to slam the government and take a delight in being homophobic, too. So hating on Buttigieg serves multiple purposes for the GOP.

DeWine has been sitting on his ass not calling Biden back. He just got around to requesting help today.

“But for many commentators from across the political spectrum, the speculation has gone far beyond known facts. Right-wing commentators have been particularly critical, using the crisis to sow distrust about government agencies and suggest that the damage could be irreparable.

On social media like Twitter and Telegram, commentators have called the situation the “largest environmental disaster in history” or simply “Chernobyl 2.0,” invoking the 1986 nuclear disaster. They warned, without evidence, that vital water reservoirs serving states downriver could be badly contaminated. And they suggested that the authorities, railroad companies and mainstream news media were purposefully obscuring the full toll of the crisis.

“‎Planned attack, cover-up or both?” asked “Conservative Daily Podcast,” a program known for pushing far-right talking points”

For 16:38:

The use of phosgene gas is a war crime under the Geneva Protocol.

Our government just released a trainload of it into the Ohio air, and is telling people it’s safe to go home.

The Biden administration turned down a request for federal disaster assistance from Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine in the aftermath of the train derailment in the state earlier this month that led to a large release of toxic chemicals.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) told Ohio's state government that it was not eligible for disaster assistance to help the community recover from the toxic spill, Dan Tierney, a spokesperson for DeWine, told Fox News Digital on Thursday. Tierney explained that FEMA believed the incident didn't qualify as a traditional disaster, such as a tornado or hurricane, for which it usually provides assistance.

"The DeWine Administration has been in daily contact with FEMA to discuss the need for federal support, however FEMA continues to tell Governor DeWine that Ohio is not eligible for assistance at this time," DeWine's office said in a statement earlier in the day. "Governor DeWine will continue working with FEMA to determine what assistance can be provided."
